Why oh why can i not get any pretty summery skirts for dd that are not huuuge on the waist. I have a couple from next and one from M&S that just fall down cos of her skinny waist and the summery skirts dont seem to come with adjustable waists. Looks like its gonna have to be pinafores every day when she starts school in sept or skirts will be round her ankles:cheesy:

I have always had this problem with Emily - being tall, to get the length right we often find the waist is too big. I found that Vertbaudet were quite good sizing wise and also most of their skirts/trousers have adjustable waists.
You often get free gifts as well :cheesy:

I am the same as Patti - DD1 is very tall but skinny. She is 11 but is wearing 12-13 clothes and has to have them for the length but the waist is always miles too big.
I do like Next though because you can alter the waist on them. Sometimes, she has to go for a ladies size 6 because it fits her a bit better. :kisshands:

DD is 4 in july and wears mainly 2-3 years for height but the waists are too big, jeans and shorts are ok cos they have adjustable waists or she can wear a belt its just the summery skirts that she likes have no adjustable waists/belt loops grrr, glad i'm not the only one with this problem:cheesy:

I get all ds's stuff from tesco or asda cos they have adjustable waists n he is such an awkward size he needs age 8 for length but then they just drop down to his ankles so I got to get adjustable ones.

believe it or not I had that problem with madam when she started Infants as she was small and she was in pinafore dresses for ages though I did resort to braces as well to keep a skirt up:cheesy:
and cam was and to some extent is still the same though he is getting closer to his age in clothes as in age 9 now nearly 10

I have the same problem with DD2, she loves pretty, girly clothes and nearly everything she really likes is a no-go. She borrowed her brother's shorts last week, age 2-3, they fitted perfectly in the waist, she's 6!
DD1 was the other way, everything was too tight, she wasn't a fat child either, just solid.
Monkeyboy is a scrawny bag of bones like his youngest sister, anyone would think I never feed them!
I agree Vertbaudet and La Redoute are great for slimmer fitting clothes.

you can make any item have an adjustable waist just put a small cut in either side of the waist band and pull some elasic though it and hold in place either with a few stitches or sew a button at each hole and make slits in the elastic.

That does sound very simple but i just know i'd make a complete mess of it:cheesy:

I have to hunt out adjustable waists. Woolies and Debenhams have both saved me recently. ;)
Vicky that is a great point! lol I will try this sometime as stuggle with both of my girls. :) they are both tall and slim for their ages.. unlike their mum! ;)

DS [almost 12] is 1 1/2 stone underweight. Eats like a horse and is trying to build his muscles up on the Wii Fit wears age 10/11 clothes which still hang off him. If the waist is not elasticated and cannot accommodate a belt, I turn it in a couple of inches. You can get away with it as his tops hang out over the top. smiledance
