I thought I'd introduced myself but I can't seem to find it - must be a lack of sleep thing!
I'm Emily, mummy of Miles and Claire. Ive been married for 17 years now and really looking forward to my 41st birthday, which comes two days after Claires 1st which I'm al most too excited about to even write about. This past year we've been invited to so many birthday parties that I feel I should invite the kids to Claires first but don't want to overwhealm her - any advice or suggestions as to how I can make it fun for all our neighbors but not so busy that she and I are basket cases at the end? I was thinking of doing a coffee and buns type thing in the morning then she could have a really long nap. Thoughts greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome - and happy birthday for next month to both of you!
Coffee etc sounds good to me. TBH she won't really know what is going on, but if she is a sociable babe I'm sure she will enjoy it, followed as you say by a nap.
If older kids wil be there, maybe a game or two of pass the parcel types? Don't forget to have a small gift (sweet/pencil or something) in each layer of paper.
Have fun!!

Hi and welcome to the site Tracey,
I'm Colette, mum to my 2 1/2 yo dd and am expecting no 2 in the new year. I had a big party for my dd on her first and she didn't have a clue what was happening (although she loved all the attention!) I think the coffee idea is great as it means you won't end up too stressed!

Hi there and welcome :) I'm Tasha, mum to Thai (6), Ebonie (4), Ethan (2) and Dion (7mths). I've thrown small family parties for my kids every year but this year in sept will be the first "kids" one I'll be doing. To be honest I'm dreading it as my two eldest share the same birthday so they'll be hundreds of kids lol (well exageration but anything past about 10 feels like it lol). I think the coffee idea is a good one too, you'll be suprised how well wee ones survive lots of attention.

Hi everyone and thank you for the warm welcomes and your feedback on the upcoming birthday - for some odd reason my dh isn't as excited as I am...he even asked if we could talk about it later! Grrrrrrrrrr I've got to get the invites done!!! Ok - so I'm making mountains out of molehills I think!
Looking forward to getting to know you all better!
