My son had one of his consoles up for sale tonight (an Xbox) as he wants to buy an Xbox 360. He was selling the console plus 8 games with a starting price of £20 and £15 postage. Someone contacted us and asked if they could collect the item rather than pay for delivery and we agreed. He placed his bid of £20 and won the auction. As soon as the auction finished he has contacted us and asked if he could retract his bid as he only wanted to bid £10 for the item (not sure how he was planning on doing that as the start price was £20).

Anyway, does anyone know how to retract a bid and will we have to pay the fees on it? Have never retracted a bid before. I take it we can't leave a negative/neutral feedback for him either now.

Thanks.

think he is past the stage of retracting his bid. as far as i know it has to be done 12 hours before end of sale. (i think)

you will have to do a mutual aggreement for buyer not paying i think

This just gets better. Last night after the auction had finished, he told us he only meant to pay £10 so wouldn't be continuing with the sale. We did a mutual agreement refund and this morning had a mail from him saying that his brother had done the bidding and that he did not say he wouldn't continue with the sale - he is offering us £10, so won't agree to the mutual agreement. He only has a feedback of 2 on this user ID. His 2 feedback are for Xboxes that he bought for £10.

I think in your case if it were me I would wait the 7 days and report unpaid item and leave negative feedback for him. As your starting price was £20 he is to me trying to get something on the cheap and not doing it the right way.

Good Luck

Can we do that now though that we have sent a retracting bid by mutual agreement?

when you look at the status of your sold item what does it say? Do you that option in the drop down menu?

Other than that, try emailing ebay to ask to retract the mutual retraction............

This is DHs ebay auction and he sent the man a mail saying he could either accept the retraction so that we didn't have to pay the fvfs or he would report him as a non paying bidder to claim the fvfs back. The man contacted us last night and told us he would pay the £20. He is coming to collect it in person which I am not too happy about after all the agro but I think it is finally sorted. At least if he pays the cash, he won't be able to do a chargeback which we thought he might do.

Thanks for the advice.
