I am a tad fed up with seeing so much of Hannah Montana and the Suite Life of Zach and Cody on the TV lately as these two shows are our daughters absolute favourite TV shows, and she's always watching them... :)
Having said that, I see nothing wrong with this image at all, it is tastefully done, has full parental permission, and it's absolutely nothing more than you'd be likely to see on a beach, at the pool, or even in town on a warm sunny afternoon - and nobody would be up in arms about that would they!! It's a young lady's back for goodness sake, that's it, nothing more. Besides, I am certain that a lot of money will pass hands for the taking of this shot, much of that to the Cyrus's I bet.
If you had the chance to have a professional high quality photograph of your daughter, with all the pampering re makeup, hair etc making her feel a million dollars, with the photo to be taken by a world renowned well respected professional photographer, subsequently the photograph to be presented to millions of potential viewers, and appear in an edition of Vanity Fair - and I appreciate it's not all about money, but on top of this receive a wad of cash... what would you do...?
If the photo's turned out as good as this one, I'd be as proud as heck.
PS: I can take equally as good portrait shots if anyone wants a photo session, hehehe... :hysterica

The photos are very nice and her parents were with her the whole time so no harm done but there is such a need to grow up quicker these days I think its sad
I think it's very 'come to bed'. She may be an actress, but this is supposed to be her as a person - a CHILD.
It's entirely inappropriate I think, and is just a further symptom of how we allow our young girls to be sexualised.
No offence to ne1 who does, but to me, it's like putting 3 yr olds in bikinis or heels, or with writing across the trousers covering their tiny innocent bottoms and objecting when grown men think of them as objects of desire. They have no boobs, they don't need bikinis.

I have to agree with Boom.
Yes it's not actually showing anything - but it is a 'sexualised' picture, and she is only 15.
Hmmm, it is a nice picture, but it's style of pic and her age that's bothering me.

oooh i thought i was going to be very sure about my thoughts on this...but now ive seen it, im not sure about it. the photo itself is fabulous, but when I imagine my DD at 15 posing like that then i dont think that i would allow it. but i guess thats me as a parent, and im sure my DD would love to have her pic taken like that....but for me i dont like it.

I think the problem is that she is a 'clean living wholesome disney star' so she is setting an example to a lot of young girls, i know that the girls in my ds's class love hannah montana and they are only 5 & 6 yr olds. I think that it is a bit much tbh- the bare back suggesting nudity, the sheet wrapped round her as if she is in bed and the tousled hair. There have been a lot of pictures surface of this young star recently- probably only getting up to what other 15yr olds do but when you have millions of little girls idolising you i dont think its appropriate.
ps my dd is 3 and wears bikini's / tankinis all the time- i dont see them as sexualising her at all it is just because it is easier to whip down the bottoms on the many toilet trips- they are not those bikinis with 2 little triangles lol

I don't like it. I agree that it is tasteful etc, but it is imo a provocative pose with a pouty look, and I think it is a tad come to bed.

Maybe it is the fact we are both portrait photographers but like Musicman I have similer views on it-you see girls this age on the street and beach wearing almost as little n on times even less again.

See i still dont know what to think
The pic itself i dont like cos i think she looks ill in it kinda like a zombie
I dont think it was the best move considering the amount of young girls that look up to her but then tbh i didnt recognise her and how many young girls will be looking at vanity fair
the pose i do think is a bit suggestive but like what has been said i have seen young girls wearing a lot less on the streets
see i still dont know what to think lol

Why couldn't they have just taken a picture of a pretty 15 year girl rather than try to sexualise it, which although it isn't an overtly sexual picture is one never the less.
I really don't see anything wrong with it, would I have my daughter photographed like that????? not sure, but then she isn't a movie star.
I also love the photo of her with her father, beautiful photo.

I really don't understand why her father felt that she needed to do a photoshoot like this. I know that she is 15 but legally she is still underage, a minor, a child and I don't think children should be sexualised in this manner. It terrifies me the number of young girls who think that being a glamour model is a career to aspire to (63% of teenage girls want to be a glamour model) who wants their child to grow up thinking that its more desirable to get their tits out than to study for a career.
I should point out that I'm no innocent - I was doing things at 15 I definately shouldn't have been!

she hasn't 'got her tits out'
and as for studing for a career, her career is already mapped out as a singer and an actress.

I didn't say she'd got her tits out - I'm talking about the fact that 63% of teens in the UK are aspiring to be glamour models.
With regards to the photo, I'm saying I disagree with sexualising children because at the age of 15 she is still a child. At the end of the day, if her career is mapped out as an actress and I know she is successful and making a lot of money then there is nothing to be gained from her doing a photo shoot in this manner other than to up her sex appeal. So is she supposed to be appealing to children with a sexual pose? Or is she supposed to be appealing to an older audience?

She is a child, and this image of her is intended to be seductive- wrong. Simple as.

I have been debating whether to post on this but im going to!
I know that her father was there etc etc etc and i know that currently she is a successful actress and singer etc etc ?BUT how long will that last?
I have an issue with this photo. I cant disagree with the fact that it has been well taken etc, but i have a big issue with children being portrayed like this. I dont see the need for it to be shot in such a way at 15... I know my girls arent 15 yet, and i know i was no angel, but i cant see whats wrong with her having her photo taken wearing clothes!
IMHO this is a very adult pose, and that bothers me.. she is after all 15

I suppose the whole aim was to kickstart her career into adult entertainment, serious film, an older audience, now she's getting a bit old for the younger children's market. It does seem wrong to us as doting parents perhaps but then at 15 I wanted to appear sexy (oh and failed) and we can't stop them growing up, she very nearly is a young adult. This is a calculated move IMO to get her more media coverage! I didn't even know who she was before but now I do, etc...

TBH I think girls show more flesh when they have a bikini on. Im with Daffs on this I think its because she is nearly 16 now they want her to appear to be getting more mature.

Well she herself said she is very embarrased about it and regrets it. I think when anyone is a roll model for youngsters they have to think very carefully about how the present themselves.
