Got home from Canada at 2.15pm yesterday (Saturday) having not slept since being woken up at 6.45 on Friday morning (we came home Friday night). I didn't manage a wink of sleep on the plane.

Got home, struggled through to 7pm, then promptly fell into a deep sleep.

Woke up at 11pm with a feeling all wasn't right. DS was asleep fully clothed on his bed (thanks DH), DD1 was fast asleep and DD2's bed was empty.

Came downstairs to find her sat playing on the computer all by herself. She was hungry (the cupboards are bare) so I made her a piece of toast and a hot chocolate and she went back to bed at about midnight (she slept all the way home so I wasn't surprised she wasn't sleepy). It took some convincing that she couldn't play all night and that the sleep she had on the plane was Friday nights sleep and not Saturday nights sleep. Try explaining all that to an 8 year old when you have had less than five hours sleep in 48 hours!!

Got back to bed and could I sleep a wink?? No way, so got up again at about 1.30 and been down here ever since.

Godness I am going to be a ratty vile person later, and I have friends coming round for brunch "to hear all about it".

Bah, gah and fiddlesticks (which is the very polite version).

I think I had best go and get into bed or the kids will be up and I won't get any sleep at all for a second night running.

I'm half tempted to give myself a good old dose of piriton but then it is so late now that if I do that I may not wake up til Sunday evening. I'm just getting tired as it is nearly midnight in Canada.

hopefully you're feeling a bit better now.

You have my sympathies- I had the worst jetlag ever after a holiday to Canada- felt soooo tired, yet when I went to bed, just couldn't sleep. Really weird, and took a good few days before sleep pattern returned to normal.

Thanks my DH just asked me what time I'm going to bed but I'm wide awake lol!

I fully intend to add loads of new products to the website tonight but am secretly hoping I'll zonk out half way through! Adding new products is just about the most boring thing I can think of to do, so if you see me on here boot me off and send me back to zombie land.

I know the jet lag very well, i am from teh US originally. I always find its worse going there, but when you are trying to sleep when its only dinner time in the place you came from, its horribly difficult!! luckily, i often work at 2pm, so it was never THAT awful for me, but my suggestion to get voer it (if its not gone yet) is set your alarm to wake up really early, do something completely exhausting during the day, eat some turkey (if you are up to cooking it, or get some deli meat) and then crash when its time, you will likely be tired after a day like that!! if you are not able to do all that for one reason or another, i know im terrible but i find that benadryl works well.

actually, yes, that reminds me, my cousin is a long-haul pilot and he takes a hayfever type remedy like piriton when he's down-line to help get a decent nights sleep.
Might be a bit late, though, lajlaj as (hopefully) you'll be back to normal now!
