I was just wondering what pets we all have? How do you cope with animals and children, do the kids help out at all?

We have a dog, the female lurcher called George. She is aging and a bit senile! Poppy the felix the cat look-a-like, another aging pet who is a victor meldrew of the cat world.

We have some tropical fish and finally four ponies. The girls ride them at weekends and some nights.

:hysterica As for looking after the pets..welllll....they will walk the dog before I take them to school and go to work. I do most of the work on the ponies but they will help most nights. The cat is the only one I do on my own but thats because of the litter tray and her food stinks!!

The dog is the most bother, she is getting on a bit and we have to walk her a few times a day as we live in a flat (product of two broken marriages) and because I work in the daytime 10-2 she has no one to run her out for four hours. Luckily I walk her with the kids to the stables and she spends about an hour and a half there every night. My hubby also walks her when he gets home from work as she is prone to accidents if we don't do the last thing at night walk.

I have a weimaraner (dog) called Max, who sounds vicious if he barlks, but is a complete softy with Kids (my neighbours daughter has pulled his tounge and all he did was back away). We got him at 1 year old from a rescue center, and he was a complete nightmare - totally untrained, my DH and mum had to hold his lead to walk him as he didn't understand the idea of going for a walk; he also didn't understand what a fuss was!

He isn't brillant on a lead now , but he is hugely better. he get walks 1 or twice a week, usually over the feilds or in the woods, with my mums two, so he has a huge run when he goes out, but he spends quite a bit of time in the garden.

We have a cat, toots, who is getting on a bit now. She is a grey and white fluffball, who lead s an independant life, but loves to sleep with DH ( she isn't allowed to sleep with me because of the baby).

We have 2 cats, Ferdy is getting on a bit now and we had her 10 years ago for our first Christmas together. Smokey is just over 1 and is dd's cat although I do the feeding cos they get fed together.

We have 2 fish tanks, 1 with tropical and 1 with marine.

And finally we have Buster our boxer puppy who is 15 weeks old and a complete nutter.

The kids will help if asked and like feeding the fish and cleaning the tanks. Since having Buster my morning routine has gone completely out the window and thats the only bit that makes me a bit frazzled.

We have 2 hamsters-snowy is ds's n spots is sd's not that she ever comes here!!!

Ds loves cleaning out the cage and feeding the hammies n doing their water bottles.

Ds would love a dog,dp would love some birds and id love a horse to go back to show jumping but none of them are likely to find their way into out pet list-lol.

I have got a Praying Mantis! And he's gorgeous, he's an early Xmas present from bf, cos I said to him months ago that I'd love one (well, any stick insect really) and he remembered and got me one! He's called Manty and he's fab. Only horrible thing is he has to have live food, so I have to feed him little crickets which is quite horrible but fascinating to watch him eat them!

We have Ben who is our waste disposal unit, he's 4 and is of unknown parentage but is believed to be a cross between a labradore, retriever and bloodhound and he's totally gorgeous and completely soppy but makes lots of noise when anyone knocks on the door. We have a very large garden which he has a good run in whenever he likes but also goes to the park about 2-3 times a week and sometimes at the weekend we take him to Epsom downs where he runs for miles.

Mungo (as in Gerry) is a 3 month old tabby kitten, who thinks that Bens tail is a play thing, luckily he loves her and they are usually curled up together somewhere very comfy looking.

The 2 mice are called Inky whose a chocolate mouse with a cream belly and Dinky whose a pure white mouse though not albino and she's very small hence her name. They are both very friendly with the dog and the cat who luckily share the same fondness for them though I don't think I'd leave them alone on the floor together lol.

We had 2 hamsters until ds announced that his was dead this am so now we just have Sweetiepie who is almost year old and is so lovely and also gets on well with the dog and cat.

2 children named Abbie and Joe and a Husband named Tim. And yes I clear up after all of them though the kids feed the small animals and the dat and Tim feeds the dog.

If I wasn't pg we'd have gotten a new cat this year (our last one died when I was expecting madam) In fact I'd still love to go out and get one! Madam loves animals, especially my mums dog - she ignores everyone else in mums until she's said hello to him!!!!

I have a golden retriever called Val.She was put forward to do her guide dog training but failed it because she was too nosey.Hence the reason they got rid of her.She is totally gorgeous but lives with my mum. When i moved out of home i thought it wasnt fair to take her as she worships my mum and i was working full time at that point.

We've got 2 rabbits Barker and Sandy. The kids like to feed them and put water in their water bottles, and they are really god at helping out with cleaning their hutch. I think we'd all like a dog though, especially Emily as she really is lover but our house just isn't big enough.

After a late night on Xmas eve (for me - midnight service) and church on Xmas day, DD1, DD2 and i took my weimaraner and my mums 2 dogs ( Midum sized bitzers) for an hour long walk. DD chose to go out with the dogs and put off having presents!

The poor ponies have had to be brought up on to our stable yard the past two days as my fields have no shelter in them and we are on the exposed side of a hill with no natural barriers from the weather. We have a small yard at the top of the hill will four stables, a barn and a tack room. We don't use the stables normally as I never have enough time to muck out stables and the field so they live out and it takes me half the time. This week they are in though as it is just too rotten, even my lurcher won't go up the stables cos its too cold...blooming wuss!!!!!

We have a dog called Oscar, and three gold fish. We also feed the birds every morning in the garden. My son Alex helps with every aspect of helping with the pets, though this wasn’t always the case when he was smaller. The grand children help with walking and training Oscar mainly by ‘setting him a good example’ which works for me :0)
