I have come up with an "invention" that I think will help a lot of people, but the material that will be needed for it is quite specific.
Is there such a material, which which is fairly hardy, strong, but you can still see through it.
I know its not very specific, but if I was, it would tell you what I've thought of and designed :cheesy:
Also, how would I go about getting something like this made/patented/copyrighted/registered or whichever is the best option, as I haven't seen anything like this anywhere.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

by material, do you mean fabric? or can it be solid?

More fabric in the sense, but it needs to be flexible and mouldable itms

Its for a pushchair (a particular one)
Don't have any ideas or advice I'm afraid but wanted to wish you luck - the best inventions for kiddies things are by parents themselves, you could be onto a sure thing here.

If its a unique design, you need to get on to the Patents Office pronto and get the wheels moving to register your Patent before someone else gets in there first!

No advice but some of the other WAHPs have been through the process so I'm sure someone will be along to help.

Thanks for the link Ru - kind of confused me a little more, but not read through properly. Trying to figure which bits would relate itms. I'm not sure there would be such a thing as a "one way" material itms. But the overall idea etc is definitely something to work from.
Thanks everyone so far.
Oooo, ooo, I've just had a light bulb moment......:hyper:

is the 'material' you're thinking of like the stuff see-through umbrellas is made of, or stronger (plastic like?)
Don't be put off by the ipo website, it can be useful but also confusing! If in doubt, give them a ring, I spoke to a couple of really friendly helpful people.
Have you done a drawing of your design? You may be able to get a 'design' patent rather than 'full' patent, but for a full patent I think you'll need a prototype.

 I've found some, but going to do a mock up trially one cheaply first, to make sure I've got things right in my own mind, and to get the design right too. Did you get a design one or ???
Do I sound clueless? :cheesy:
I think what I'll do is await my delivery, put together the rough design and chip away at it, then give them a call - do you think that would be the right way to do it??

Yes, that sounds like a great idea!
I've got a design patent for the Wheels, because the numbered disc I use is already patented. I wasn't sure the Baby Feed Wheel would even be patentable (made up word!:cheesy:) but when I spoke to the man at the IPO he said that as the design and use was significantly different, I could get a design patent. That worked out really well, because it's much cheaper (c.£60 per design rather than £1000's!) and really quick (just a few weeks to get a patent (registered design)number).
If you think I can help at all, give me a yell!gd12

What about a fabric that has a metal thread run running through it.
I made a gorgeous dressing up costume for my daughter when she was a Robot princess (don't ask) and she has a sheer silver fairy skirt that had a metallic silver thread running through it. The haberdasher said it was a real metal thread - sorry not very specific!
It really was quite strong though as usually with chiffon its can tear if pulled especially round the seams and this held well.
Maybe try going to a fabric warehouse. If you are ever near Barnet/Finchley I know a really great one.
