The poor mite has dropped off but is sobbing in his sleep you know like wimpering itms-he has surrounded himself with every teddy n cuddly he has as well. Blinking stupid school-it l take me days now to get this out of his system-took months to get the house burning down at night out of his head every night.

What a ridiculous book to read!!! I'd be soooo angry with them about that - mine would be the same and petrified of sleeping if they'd heard that story.

:kisshands: for J.
You would think they would be aware that such stories have an effect on some children. Especially when it is sadly a fact of everyday life that it does happen - with Maddie and then Shannon etc it is always in the press. I remember reading a book for school when I was about 14 about a nuclear war and it petrified me.
I know how you feel. DS1 (just turned 9) came home in tears recently coz they were reading a book at school about a girl at school who had an operation that went wrong and she died.
He's spent most of the last year under hospital care and has had 5 or more operations. I can only imagine how terrified he will be now if he has to have any more!

omg thats terrible, what a silly book to read. Surely they must realise the effect a book like that can have on a child. I would complain if i were you hun!

Umpteen parents have been in about it-the teachers said o we didn't think it was scary-errr doh they are adults!!!!! I went up about midnight to bed n he was asleep soundly then thank god but nightmare trying to wake him for school today!!! He was OK this morning as were the other kids but no doubt they will be like it again tonight!! Apparently it was as part of their English to teach how to write a story!!!!!!!!!
Gets better tomorrow n every Friday is Fruity Friday n the kids cant bring any junk for tuck just fruit-ds would sooner starve than eat fruit n if he forces himself to eat it he throws up. He takes healthy stuff just not fruit itms so he now wants to miss school on Fridays!!!
When will they stop telling our kids what they can eat etc-blimey soon they will tell the kids how n when to breath!!!!!!

Awww, Emma as if things are not bad enough. I would be so cross with the school, especially when there have been the real-life stories about Madeline and Shannon recently. You would have thought the school would have taken this into consideration!

They didn't think it was scary - then they need to look beyond what they think is scary and think about what is going to scare a child. :ac39:
I have to say the whole kidnapping issue with Madeline actually presented a great opportunity for me to talk to madam about stranger danger, she had noticed all the pics and asked about her so we sat down and had a good chat about it. She does still ask about her and if she has gone back to her mummy and daddy and we tell her the truth but it has definately sunk in about strangers.

Tbh none of them have common sense in his school-all the teachers are useless n make no attempt at understanding.
Went in to see them today bout the fruit thing n it is every Friday n I explained bout ds n the deputy head said o right ok-best be sure to have a good breakfast-wtf!!!!! Ds came home n said umpteen kids didn't have fruit with them n didn't get told off!!!!! If id know that id have sent him in with his usual snack!!!! Grgh!!!!!
That school sounds as though they could do with a good shake up.
poor J, like he doesn't have enough to deal with.
