OMG! But surely, apart from the ethical side of things, a padded bra isn't good for a young girl who isn't fully developed anyway is it??

At the end of the day, as a parent, you just don't buy it for your child, best way to get it removed from the shelves!

well my sister will be pleased! and my friend vicky! both in their 20's but finally theres a cheap boost bra in their size.
as for being aimed at 7/8 year olds, can't see how that would work, 1. there's nothing there to lift and 2. surely at that age it's still the parents responsibilty for what clothes are bought and any parent in their right mind wouldn't buy it for their daughters anyway?(if they did, I think you have to question the parents morals rather than the childs)

I think we should email them and tell them we are boycotting Tesco until they are removed.

:cheesy: I did have a similar thought!
And has been said - just don't buy them for a child. I wasn't planning on dd needing (unpadded) 1st bras for a good few years yet ...

"Boost bra for girls age 7" ?????
Hmmmmm I think thats a very misleading headline
These bra's are not specifically marketed for 7 and 8 year olds, in deed there is nothng on the lable to suggest that it would be aimed at that age range. The label only shows the size of the bra.
But ... they are hanging on a rack amongst a whole load of other underwear which includes pants and vests for 7 year old upwards - hense the headline I would say.
My dd1 and dd2 needed bra's from an early age, by the time they were 12 they were wearing a b cup bra but i never ever bought padded bra's for them.
The bra's in question are obviosuly aimed at older teens with smaller busts, not 7 years olds. It is unfortunate merchandising that these bras have been displayed (with other starter bras's) amongst the general childrens underwear.
It dosnt say 7-8 years on the label and who on earth would buy a padded bra for a 7 year old?

I agree with the PP to a point. However, the article has a quote from a Tesco spokesperson who states they are aimed at those who are just 'developing' and are self conscious about their changing shape, they also say it is designed to 'cover up' not flatter. Well, I would almost go with what they say if they had not 'padded' the product, how is that going to cover up anything, surely it will enhance the shape?
I will not be buying one for my DD until she 'needs' a supportive bra. As for boycotting Tesco, I try to avoid buying anything from them at all anyway, but, that is because of the way they treat their suppliers, customers and the environment, not to mention the way they ride roughshod over planning permissions and the desires of those who live in areas where they propose to build new stores.

Yes i see what you mean - "just developing" does make you think of a pre-teen.
I think these are aimed toward developing teenagers not 7 year old girls, no parent in their right mind would buy one for their 7 year old.

Indeed, it is the 'right minded' who wont but there are those who seem to enjoy making their little girls into little images of themselves and almost seem to force them into growing up faster than they can.

OMG G is nearly 10 but I still consider her a little girl. Some of her friends wear bras which I thought was a bit amusing. She wanted one too but instead I got her some pretty crop style vests which she loves.

You've hit the nail on the head there - as soon as one parent relents and buys a bra for a 7 year old .. the rest of their peers will see what she's got and want one too.
If we parents stood firm and said no to it, there wouldnt be a problem, they would remain happy with vest or crop top untill they actually grew boobs.
You are obviously one of the sensible ones x

ooh thanks.
Actually my friend - some people will know who I mean as I've spoken about her a lot - bought these same crop vests for her DD - who is 6!!! This child is taller than my almost 10 yo and she has a hard enough time keeping her looking like a 6 yo and then goes and buys those.:smiley-fa
