It really depends on how heavy and valuable your parcels are. I rang round quite a few delivery companies and settled with Parcel Force in the end. They were a similar price as other companies, but had a higher standard insurance which matters to me as most of the items that I send through Parcel Force (anything valuable over 2 kilos, or anything at all over 4 kilos) need decent insurance. Also, our local Parcel Force driver is lovely and very helpful which makes such a difference when you are seeing them most days.

You need to analyse your average weight of parcel and volumes per week or month and then contact some couriers to see what they can offer.

Hope that helps a bit.

I am having a real carry on just now with my post office closed, i have to travel and when they turn around and say ohh we are just closing, half day and i cant take all your parcels, i have no room, its really getting me down.
Couriers are all the same, i cant find a good courier just now, but with my business, i cant find a good deal on opening an account as i cant guarantee how many parcels at xxx weight i can get out each week, it varies a lot with my business, some weeks i may bge quiet, then some week i am well and truly busy.

Thats what i'm having trouble with I don't really know if I can guarantee how many parcels I will have. I think i'll stick with the post office for now and maybe in a few months think about couriers.

Hi,
I usually use Royal Mail as the majoirty of my orders are fairly light weight.
However, I have joined http://www.saletrackparcels.co.uk:80/ who work with DHL.
I have not used their service yet but I think each parcel is £6.00 / £6.50 up to 30kg. and they do not mind occasional orders or daily. If it is occasional you just ring them and they pick up the parcel (before 12.00, it is same day pickup).
There was a thread on here recently from someone who had used them and said the service was very good - hopefully they will see this and comment.

Hope this helps.

I use dhl I have a contract account and they collect 4 times a week. I pay less than £6 but to be honest I don't think £6 is that bad if you are unsure of the quantity you have and the DHL system is quite good.

Is that £6 per parcel?

I think that what chris said it was to send using saletrackparcels who use DHL.

The contract I have is directly with DHL and my contract is for less than £6 a parcel negotiated on volume upto about 32 kilos.
Its much cheaper than Royal mail and everything can be tracked from door to door so I love it!
