As the local council elections seem to be on the horizon where I live in May it got me thinking

when you vote in a local election what is the greater influence on who you vote for?

Do you vote for a party or do you vote for the person?

I seem to go for the person who I have seen doing something for the area we live in and in Llandudno Junction we have a couple of good councilors who can be seen doing something for their area rather then just doing the talk and I am friends with one of them (his dad lives next door). can't vote for him as his area is the bottom of the hill and I live at the top

I agree, at local elections I vote for the ones doing the most for the area. Having said that the local councillors from all three parties seem to be very active and involved in my area. They are all easily accessible and approachable too and seem very committed to making the area a nice place to live - still get the odd bit of "they promised this and didn't do that" in their newsletters etc though but their inter party bickering doesn't sway my opinion

I seem to vote for the person that never gets in

I tend to vote for the party, which isn't how it should be, but tbh the last few elections I have voted by spoiling my ballot sheet
