....do you have your children wear black? i personally have never done it, something my mum always said to us and i suppose i have just always had it in my head! i only ask cos i'm after hsm t shirts for the girls off tanya and she may only have millie's size in black....she is 7 now though so i don't think i mind really but just thought i'd ask everyone else's views!

Black is just the same as any other colour, Chloe has black clothes the same as any other colour in her wardrobe.

Black really suits my dd - she has always worn black clothes as part of her wardrobe...
But put her in purple and she looks washed out!

H has a HSM t-shirt that is black but the writing is sparkly silver. She also has black jeans. She doesn't wear them much but that's her choice, she prefers pink:cheesy:. G doesn't wear much black but she has black skinny jeans and I got her a dark grey t-shirt with silver and red bats on it. I'm not bothered really but then black is my favourite colour.:cheesy:

Amber has a black t-shirt and TBH I though it was a little strange on her at first but it really suits her!
Heather has black leggings, tshirts and skirts, they look lovely on her

The girls have always had different items of clothing that are black, never seen it as a problem

Don't think black is nice on little ones but once they get older I think it's fine.

Evelyn didn't when she was very little, (mostly because there wasn't anything- lol), but she does have black trousers now.

My dd has a leggings and dress top that are black and white and she so suits it. IT was bought as a pressie for her as i wouldn't think to buy black for her a she is such a girlie girl and loves her pinks and purples.

I always remember when I was little, not being allowed to wear black. My mum always said black was for ladies and not children - and I remember feeling really excited getting my first black outfit (It was a black t-shirt and mini skirt combo with silver glitter all over!!)
It's all come back to me now!!

Interesting discussion - I produce a couple of tees with black sleeves for babies - feedback I've had has been positive as they look quite unusual.
Doing my research I came across a company that did do black baby clothing, a kind of charcoal rather than jet though - made me think about the use of colours in kids clothing.

I don't think my girls have anything black beyond the leggings I bought for hallow'een. I've just never really thought about buying anything black - they're probably going to live in it when they're teenagers so I'm buying them colourful stuff now!

now that you mention it, my ds1 doesnt have any black clothes, ds2 has one little black top with blue writing on but that is it, i guess they dont have black as there isnt much in the shops for their age range but i kinda agree that black doesnt suit young children i think its a harsh colour.
I've not thought about it before, dd doesn't wear black but thats because I've not seen baby clothes in black. My 5 year old niece has black dress, leggings and jeans.
The only time i don't like kids wearing black is in the winter when it gets dark early and they wear totally black clothes then try and cross roads .. you can hardly see them.

Madam had a lovely black velvet dress with a lace colour and she looked really sweet in it when she wore it with white lace tights and black patent shoes (she was about 2 when she got given it)

My little one has black leggings, a black flowery top and a frilly black dress and she looks cute in them, she always usually wears pink so its nice to see her in something different.
When i worked in a children's clothes shop people did not like very dark colours for babies but black for the over 2's sold like black skinny jeans worn with a bright top but not normally a total black outfit for that age.

I think black in winter is fine but I don't like black in the summer on kids, not when you can get so much of a selection these days.
I struggle when I sell black which suggests its not really a popular choice.
My daughter has recently decided she loves black, but shes 11 now.

The only things Jack has got in Black are school trousers & couple pairs of jeans. Dull colours dont suit him.

why does black have a negative connotation for children's clothes, i have never heard of that. i would def keep black in the wardrobe much like any other color...i would be more worried about pink!! hha. i really like black clothing, i think they are sleek and stunning. and it brings out the sparkle in the eyes...think black and white fotos =)

Ie never really thought about it, Lux is 8 and has quite a bit of black clothes, its just that black goes with most other things, its versatile.
The older girls wore some black when they were younger aswell.
