Hi. I'm new to the forum and need a little assistance. My baby boy is due in the next few weeks and we would like to name him Kaherdin (from the Myth of Tristan and Isolde) but we are not 100% sure of the pronunciation of this name. Can anyone help us out before he gets here? Thanks so much!

Hello and welcome.

I would guess at Ka-her-din ... with the ka as it Katherine

I don't want to upset you, but if you don't know how to pronounce it, (and neither do I) it may be fair to assume the child will have trouble with the name throughout its life! Other children, teachers, friends, future employers etc etc all either saying it wrong or asking about it ...

Maybe Tristan would be a better choice?

Good luck with whatever name you decide on and I hope to see you around the boards.

Hi and welcome to the site!

I'm afraid I wouldn't have a clue about how to pronounce the name. When are you due? I've got just under 6 weeks left but don't know what we're having.

I agree with you, i have a really weird name and it has embarassed me all my life because people are not sure how to pronounce it. Really really embarasing when you at school. I made sure all my kids had normal name's because of it.

Hi!

Sorry, don't have a clue how it is pronounced but wanted to say hello! I'm Michelle, a WAHM with a little girl who just turned 2 ( her name is from greek mythology although I have to say that wasn't the reason why we chose it and only realised sometime later!)
