Hi,
I want to change my shopping cart on my main website as there are quite a few things with it I am not happy with.
Can anyone recommend any to me as I am not sure which one to choose.
I want to put a ssl certificate on my website also so i can get paypal pro (which the shopping cart will need to support) So can anyone recommend the best place to get one from.
Many thanks
:D

Sorry Helen, I can't help at all as my site comes complete with the shopping cart 'all in'.

does Cubecart not support Paypal Pro then?

you could go for Zen Cart or one of these online site builder thingys such as EKM Powershop (http://www.ekmpowershop.com/) Actinic Express (http://www.actinic.co.uk/express/) Store2go (http://www.store2go.net/)

I use ekmpowershop (http://www.ekmpowershop.com)- and can't recommend highly enough. It integrates with PP Pro and numerous other payment options, from cheque through to PayOffline. You can have the full caboodle or integrate it into an existing site. It comes with an SSL certificate included in the price.

Set up cost £50, £25pa for domain name hosting, £20 per month for the cart and then there is an additional cost for email (£5 a month I think but I don't use it, I have a different domain name hosted with 1 and 1 and point my emails there instead).

Both my shops are with them, feel free to have a wander through the sites to see how it works. Also there is an online demo shop so you can see exactly how it works from an admin point of view too.

Hth any questions please feel free to yell!

I think it only comes as standard with the new cubecart which you need to pay for ( which I dont mind doing later but its still quite new), otherwise they have extra bits to download. If you want anything thats not part of the original package you can get issues developing when you need to upgrade.
Zencart has it which is why I was going to go for them but they dont have google which i was thinking about as well.
There are other issues with cubecart that I am finding annoying and also really want to change it a bit to freshen it up as it has basically been the same for the last two years.

Many thanks lajlaj and Tanya Ekmpowershop looks interesting. I will go and have a look around there site later.:happy72:
I had a look at store2go as that supports google and paypal pro but I dont think its what i am after as there are a couple of things i wanted included that as far as I could see it didn't come with.

I'm building a new site with Store2go atm, I would say that it's ok for a start up site, it seems quite basic but it's quite cheap and EKM is WAY BETTER gd12

We tend to use zencart for clients (unless they ask for something specific) as they are always coming out with new modules and they are fairly easy to integrate. I think DH is in the process of putting Google Checkout onto Delicate Dreams.

Make sure when you get your SSL certificate that you look at the various types and get the one that's right for you.

I've changed one of my sites to EKM and I really love it but the frustration of not being able to manually put orders in got to me yesterday when I had a run of telephone orders!

My new site is OscMax and I love it! I have basically done it all myself and it has been really easy and powerful and I have Paypal Pro on there. Its a huge improvement from Oscommerce and has so many features and is also completely free.

I host the new site with CS New Media and their hosting is fab so all the new site cost me was £6.45 a month for hosting (and I can have lots of domains for that with unlimited e-mail accounts on each) and the SSL certificate cost £24.99 a year and the IP is £20.99 a year.

I really recommend you take a look at OscMax.

Many thanks for all your suggestions.
feistygal :- I actually had a muck about with oscmax yesterday but couldn't get it to work.
Something about the register_globals being off when they needed to be on.( or the other way round)
There was mention of a mod or a work around on there forum but I chickened out and took it off.
I know lots of hosts wont change the register globals due to risks.
How did you manage with that ?

I don't remember that being a problem at all, sorry.
