I'm off to a Chambers Networking lunch in a few weeks time and need to fine tune mine, well actually get one together would be a good start. Anyone got any advice, do you think taking along a sample of a new product would be alright? 10 people sit round a table, we all have 2 mins to networking with rest of the table. Not long but I need to grab everyones attention, hence the sample. Once everyone has done there bit we change tables and start all over again. Most of the people on the table have been going for years and are men, which makes me feel inadequate.
Thanks
Ann

could be well worth it, if it's the right environment to promote your business and encourage others to promote your business or sell on your product.

Otherwsie if you are just hoping the people you talk to might become customers it might be a lot of effort for little reward.

Ann, i think you may have to check about taking in a sample as the ones i have attended no-one has ever bought in a sample, just business cards and a given a well toned 2 min talk. Also you dont want to be distracted, or have the others distracted by your sample? you want their full attention on what your saying/offering about your business.

Just my opinion :)

If no-one has brought in a sample, having a visual aid might be good: make you stand out a bit. I would think however, about your target audience: how can you make education takeaway appeal to men in suits. What would motivate them to buy. ( I wrote a bit about people's motivations today onmy blog (http://www.acpr.co.uk/pr-blog/) )
