I won an auction for an item of clothing which cost £14, and it was as described except I didn't ask 2 vital questions so I guess it is my fault, but the item of clothing is George and I would not have bid for it if I had known this. It was not in the description it was just listed as BNWT.

Would you just take it on the chin and chalk it up to experience or mention to the seller that you feel the item should have been described as a George item.

It isn't as nice as I thought it was going to be and I feel that I have been duped into paying more for the item than it cost orignally.

I feel really stupid as it was a seller I trusted from another Parent site, but do feel they were hiding the fact it was George item.

Not sure what you can do about it but I would call it false advertising , not sure if you can complain to ebay about it but you can leave negative feedback which I would do ,

but before you do that send a email to the seller and tell them your not happy with the item stating your reasons why and give them chance to rectify the problem

You could always ask for a refund. I bought goods recently and the item didn't fit me. I did ask beforehand if I would be able to return and claim a refund. The seller was absolutely brilliant and even refunded the postage.

I would email her to see, you have nothing to lose.

Good luck.

Sorry to sound like a meany, but you could have asked what brand it was before bidding, so if I was the seller, and the item was BNWT, and as described, then I wouldn't be inclined to refund.

As long as the description was accurate, then you have got what you bid on IYSWIM.

I buy clothes from ebay, and sometimes they are nicer than expected, and sometimes they are a disappointment, but so are clothes from an online catalogue.

It is in the seller's interests not to include information which might put you off, but that doesn't make the description false - eg black sirkt excellent condition might also have I found this skirt uncomfortable cos the zip digs into your hip, but that is hardly likely to happen!

That said, there is no harm in emailling the seller and asking about a refund; they can only say no.
good luck:crossfing

Sorry but I agree, if it is the same as the photo and still got the tickets, I don`t really see what you can do about it. You can always sell it yourself. You might get lucky and the seller might refund you, but will it be worth it buy the time you pay for postage again?

I know I should have asked what brand it was, I guess I've learnt a lesson here. The quality is not what I expected, I really would have expected someone to list the brand, they are selling other items and have said what the brand is so I think this was deliberate on the sellers part or just absentmindedness.

Moral of this story is don't bid when you are tired from bf or lack of sleep!

All sounds a bit strange to me, if you liked the item you were bidding on enough to bid for it, why does it matter that it was a George item, hope there's no label snobbery coming in here

yes to a degree there is some snobbery here, i'm not afraid to say that as i buy george clothing and cherokee on many occasions for the kids & myself.

my expectations didn't match with reality, buts it's ok i've learnt that if i'm not sure to ask questions when it matters
