This weeks cutting edge (wed 9pm C4) is about insurance scams, fiddles and honest claims. Worth a watch as I just couldn't do this? not only will your insurance go up but i just cant lie, be so frightened of being caught out.
Would you or have you ever made a dishonest claim on your insurance?

No I wouldn't but I have came across lots of people that have. I do work for Insurance Companies and Loss Adjusters and you would be very surprised at some of the claims people put in and the lengths some will go to!

I am quite honest, but I would feel so guilty as well. I guess some people dont worry about being caught. BBx

No, I just couldn't. Not just because I know I would be caught out (I once drove for 2 weeks with no tax because when I bought the car the log book was lost so I couldn't buy the tax and got caught and fined) but I couldn't be that dishonest.

ive only ever made one claim when our dishwasher flooded the kitchen floor. I would be too scared. I know people who do it all the time though.

Did you watch the show? it was fascinating . It put me off even more. If you are caught you are "black listed" and would find it hard to get any insurance again (car, home or anything!) It would be a disaster if you couldn't get car insurance because you were refused a claim on your home insurance. It would put me off putting in a honest claim in case they didn't believe me.
One poor couples home was flooded last year (in last years summer floods) you could see there home was underwater, but because they claimed for things they didnt have, the insurance wouldn't give them a penny. I felt very sorry for them but they shouldnt have been greedy! Now they wont get insured again.

I personally was disgusted with this programme, the Insurance industry takes money from people and when they claim assume that they are on a con. Yes I know that there are dishonest people out there, but the lengths that they go to when they assume a claim is false is scary. I would like to see another way pf dealing with problems with inflated and false claims. Why don't they give a loyalty rebate? I di not like the man at Norwich at all and we even said we would not have a policy with them. That poor man who had receipts and boxes yet they still did not pay out his claim.
I once had to claim for paint damage on a carpet, which ds had done when he was a toddler, now I'm thinking that they probably thought I did it on purpose. If the insurance industry treated customers a bit better than perhaps so many people wouldn't abuse the system, but then I'm probably wrong here.

A lot of the time I think insurance is a scam in its self they take you money and yet quite often refuse to pay out because of small print etc. I could never make a false claim I would feel too guilty and be worried about being found out.
