This only applies to a bricks and mortar shop by the way.
I am yoying with different ideas for whn I move into my shop. Please bear in mind it will also stock dance wear costumes, shoes etc so this would be aimed at members of local dance schools, playgroups etc.
But would you prefer either
1. a loyalty card
2. a regular discount card
3. neither as it wouldn't make you shop anymore
I have tried to do a poll but can't work it out?? oops I just did it lol:cheesy:
Your help would be greatly appreciated:kisshands:

i said loyalty card, only because i feel a discount card that could be used all the time seems a bit gimmicky, at least with a loyalty card, your customers can see ho you're able to give them products cheaper/offer vouchers etc.....you could also offer a discount on bulk orders....
i hope you understand what i mean!

Neither, it would make me feel that the prices were over inflated in the first place.

all feedback is greatly appreciated.
The shop doesn't currently offer any discounts at the moment. However A lo of mums at local dance schools have asked if I will offer a discount.
Good point about inflated prices though.:D

I personally think because you are in a very niche market with dancewear a loyalty card would be great. Your prices could remain competative, but if you offer something extra from buying from your shop then loyalty wins me over - I know I'm a fool!
I would normally buy shampoo or something from Boots so I can get my points, even if Superdrug is next door iykwim. I just feel I get more.
Neither. Around here, the local dance school would have the shop owner visit the class at the beginning of term and take orders, perhaps you could do that and offer a discount then, so they bought from you rather than somewhere else.

Thats a good idea for standard dance costumes. Tricky if you are trying to encourage cusotmers to buy other things, but I could include a flyer with every order for the individual customers so they know what else is in the shop.
Still a good idea thanks

I said neither, not big on discounts or loyalty. I'm with Chell I would think the prices were over inflated in the first place.

I said loyalty as otherwise everyone can get the discount iyswim. I think going to the dance schools to take orders / deliver there at no extra cost / bulk discoutn would probably be a good move

Neither for me, I can't be bothered with loyalty cards.
You could offer the dance schools a commission on orders placed through the school in that they'd take the orders, sort the money out for you and just give you one big order and one big cheque per term, meaning you could then place one big order with your supplier and maybe get one big discount if you asked for all dance school orders to be in by x date for each term. Then it's up to the dance schools if they pass their commission on as a discount or keep it towards their running costs, either way they're likely to encourage sales AND if they collect up the orders would certainly make your life easier.

I like Miranda's suggestion.
Clinkards give a loyalty card and it always annoys me because I know I won't be going there again within the allowed time frame so I always feel I am missing out on something.
A discount for "orders over X" works well for me - feel its fair that if you spend more you should get a discount, and doesn't make me feel bad if I only buy something small, and usually because I'm tight I will buy more than I wanted to make it up.

If there are other shops in the area then a loyalty card is great idea with maybe a 10% of their next order once they have got say 10 stamps on their card- craft shops somethimes do that....
Offering discounts or commisions to the schools themselves is also a great idea as there is something in it for the dance schools, and it would encourage bulk ordering or regular customers to suppy to. Plus they then do the hard part of finding the customers for YOU.
If you just wish to encourage coustomers 'off the street' so to say, then say a periodical special offer on certain items displayed in the window.
Hope this helps.

Following up: when you give the dance school the orders, of course each individual item or each persons orders has your card attached, means they know a) where it came from and b) if they need any more before next term thay can just pop in
