I did mine in Sept, for some reason I got it into my head that the deadline was then  :cheesy:
Thank you, I've done my return but I do need to pay over my tax.

Done mine today and as I had a loss carried over from last year, I don't owe anything.
I am scared though in case I haven't done it right and they want to check it!!

if you find you have made a mistake you can submit an amended return, as long as the original is in by Jan 31st you don't get the £100 fine but if you have calculated your tax wrong and you owe more you will be liable to pay interest on the additional amount
paid my tax today, so mine should be all be done now. Hated doing it though!

I haven't sent the money either, I thought you waited until you received a bill from them? That's what I did last year.

you must pay any tax owing by the 31st otherwise you will incur interest on any outstanding amounts

TBH i dont think i will owe them anything so i should be alright? do they send you a bill though if you do owe them?
Ketty x
If you submitted your return online, it told you if you needed to pay over any tax and when, it asked me for half now and the other half in July. I haven't received a bill, I think they just expect you to pay by the 31st if you owe anything.
If your return was done by 31st December, you could ask for the amount to be taken using your PAYE code if you are employed as well.

plus if you send in your tax return after 30th Sept they expect you to work out the tax yourself, if I had time off work this week i would have willingly helped you all but still got a few tax returns and accounts to complete at work this week

I didn't see that you could pay half now and half in July. I have just paid £900 to them.
My accountant submitted mine on-line and I received a bill a few months ago.
Perhaps it's different when you have an accountant/agent submit your return for you.
Your accountant probably submitted early enough for a bill to be sent to you, not like some of us leaving it right to the last minute.

the pay 1/2 now and half in July is for the on account payments for your 2007/08 return, you have to pay the balance of you 06/07 assesment by the 31st Jan plus the 1/2 of the on account payment........does that make sense ?

Yes it does - thanks.
