If you were looking at domain names - what variations would you go for if they were all available?

I am looking at one for a very very very distant project but it is available in most of the variations - except .com. There are 4 ways of spelling if I just went with .co.uk.

What would you all register?

It would depend on where the prject was based. If it was only available to the uk I'd stick with the .co.uk domains.

Are the variations just of ways it can be spelled if its mnistyped or are they genuine differences in spelling?

It's really tricky to know what to suggest. Maybe get the domains with the first and second most common spellings.
