Do you set yourself targets, if so are they financial and/or actual sales...or any other targets?
What are they based on (ie previous year etc)?
Have you achieved them ?
When i first started end of Jan 07 i set myself a goal of actual website sales....as this increased i set myself a monthly £ goal. This was purely fictious as i had no online history!lol
I acheieved them by miles...so need to set this years a little higher :clapping:

:cheesy: my aim at the moment is to not invest any more of my own money - and so far thats working and the business is paying for itself which is nice. I will start some proper plans when ive been in business for 1 year.

I need to make some - but I just settle down and work out what I want to be doing and then have to plan for a baby instead! Good job we aren't relying on my business for our income isn't it!

My target is to have started to make a profit by the time the site has been running two years. I'm not in a mad hurry, I'd rather it progressed slowly and was sucessful in time. It is actually because I am a bit of a scardy cat, not a good risk taker.
If things go as they are doing then that target will be met in well under two years. I have loads of stock and am owed very little of my initial investment now.

My target has always been to beat the previous year's sales, which I have done.
My target is now to at least double each month's sales - which so far I have done :cheesy:.
Don't ask me how I actually achieve my targets, though!

I thought you'd knocked that one on the head as you'd not cope with more orders. :cheesy:

I've always had mini targets - for example, the first was to earn £1K per month turnover through the site so that I could stop working for the ofsted inspector. Then life went loopy and growth was huge. My next target was to match the turnover of the year before.
Now we are on a "daily" target - an amount we need to earn each day to be "ok". We are not quite there yet, we are edging ever closer - before Christmas we exceeded it on a daily basis but that is different, we need to earn it now and we are about £50 (or one decent jewellery sale) off that amount each day. Some days we hit it but it isn't a consistent and this amount doesn't include the national account orders or the police forces and councils and schools, etc, it is purely the amount we want to take directly through the website as a constant so that we can afford to live! The rest is bonus money to invest back into the business and stock, etc.
Yep, I usually have a target turnover for each year, so I have some idea where the business is going. In the beginning I had a full business plan and forecast, hope to get back to that situation again for my next financial year.

Did I say that?
What I meant to say (and probably said it badly) is to double last year's turnover, by month - so in Feb I want to double what I made in Feb 2007, etc.
I don't necessarily want to double what I made in Jan 08.
Nadine's target of £1k per month is kind of what I was hoping for during 2008.
I'll always find a way to cope with more orders!

I have a monthly target and I also break it down into a daily one. On top of that I want to exceed the same period last year - so far I'm hitting all targets, sometimes it's closer than others.

I have a minimum target for monthly sales and the target "where-i-want-to-be!"

yes, I have an idea of how many Wheels I would like to sell a month, but these figures are usually just plucked out of thin air :cheesy: (ie, more than the previous month!)
Now Chiggs has been going 2 years I have previous sales to act as a guide, and so can plan with realistic (but also challenging :D ) targets.
I'm not too hard on myself, though. Heck, no-one's going to sack me if I don't meet my targets!
I should really set myself targets ... I usually kinda hope i get more sales than the month before!

Paying the rent each month is my target. I don't think I was set out to be a businesswoman. I am not 'driven'.
