Our neighbours are a pain in the arse with making noise, last week we was woken twice at around 3am in the morning to her screaming and shouting at her son (again)
We have to constantly put up with their television noise and there dog barking.
I complained to the council via email and they have passed my message onto the police dept (see if anyone else has complained) and they said will have words with other neighbours - not much use that is gonna be seeing has its four houses and they are on the end house.
Does anyone know what happens next - do they get told someone has made a complaint??

Not sure but if it is noise poluttion (yes) you can report them to the environmental health department as well, they will ocme round and set up monitoring equipment etc and can prosecute them separately to police

They only do this if there are a number of complains. I've complained about neighbours in the past, I really hate unnecessary noise. They get sent a letter saying a complaint has been made, and are warned that if it continues, the above will happen.
They don't get told who made the complaint, but I think one of my neighbours knew coz it was a semi, in an area of only 4 houses:cheesy:, the important thing is he listened.

That sounds like us - terrace house but in rows of four and sadly the neighbours live on the end then theres a gap of say ten feet before the next row of four houses. She will know its us that as complain cos we have been round a few times before to ask her to keep it down

if you've asked them to keep it down and they are still not respecting you, and others that live around you, call Environmental health. The police won't be much good, as they don't like to get unnecessarily involved in domestics, only if they start fighting/get physical in the street will they interveen.

start a noise diary and keep track of it all and if possible record it especially if its during the night hours. The council dont do a deal unless you can show evidence.
Make a note of each time you call the council and the name of whom you speak to as well and when/if you call the police. Have a word with other neighbours and try and find out if they feel the same and are willing to keep a diary, this will show a united front of neghbours that it effects. Good luck with it hun, it is a battle but if you can get the details the council will have to caution them and so will the police for breach of the peace eventually.
