I will be glad when Thursday comes so I don't have to queue in the PO. It's mobbed everytime I go recently and have to queue for ages.
Roll on the time when I have enough orders to not have to take them there myself.
Proud Mummy moment though, the man who served me today said how well behaved my DD was while we waited. :happy72:

What about using smartstamp and then just drop them off.
You could have two desptach books and leave one there and collect next time you go in :clapping:

At my Post Office, they encourage anyone with a large number of parcels just to leave them (with cash or a blank cheque) and they process them the same day when they have time.
They have my phone number so if there is a problem they just ring through. Next time I am in, I pick up all the proof of posting / receipts.
This is a win/win as I don't have to join the queue and wait (also the parcels can be heavy) and it doesn't cause a backlog of annoyed customers behind me!
Ask at you PO if they do a similar scheme. It can save lots of time.

I use Mail Box Etc instead of the PO and there's never a queue.

LOL I get my DH to do it too! They are fab though at our post office, we smartstamp everything and then they just stamp the proof of postage and recorded delivery books, if the boss isn't in they bring him to the front of the queue (but won't do it if the boss is in).
We ermed and ahed about postal collections too but we still have to go out for the DX stuff so decided it probably wasn't worth the extra money - especially as ours are normally just a small padded evelope size.
Yesterday we had 6 post sacks through and it has been pretty much the same every day for the past few weeks. If we were doing that each day then I would defo get a collection but we can normally handle the daily two or three sacks.
Well done your DD though, how lovely to get nice comments like that.

Well done your DD. I have 2 local PO, one is rural = never a queue - went in at 4.10pm while DD was riding and no queue. The other is nice but very very busy unless you pick a good time to go.
You could organise a collection for just 1 or 2 days a week I think it cost £5 for a one-off collection.
Am also thankful to have a collection.

I used to DETEST going to our PO Its in the middle of town, no parking anywhere near so i have to lug the kids and theres always a colossal queue. HOWEVER! During my travels i have found another PO which is inside a CO-op...NEVER a queue, plenty of parking and i can get supplies at the same time! bonus! it is a little further out of my way, and i must remember its shut between 1-2pm..but apart from that its ideal!

Oh I felt like this last year, I went to the main Post Office in the shopping centre so I could get some shopping done afterwards but there was always a HUGE queue in there. This year I've been using a tiny PO its one of those which is within another shop, its in a little chemists and there's never much of a queue, tons better.

I use a village PO twice a week as it is near DDs preschool. Even that has been busy in the mornings but it is on the recent list of closures, it might not be there by February.
When that closes it will be worse, I will need to use the busy PO near DS school.
I used to print my postage online but was always worried that my scales weren't accurate, I will invest in some new ones in the New Year. I never used Smart stam, just the print your own stamps link.

What do you mean by a despatch book?

What do you mean by a despatch book?
You need a despatch book if you use smartstamp and send lots of Recorded delivery or Special delivery items.
You phone up Royal Mail ask for a desptach book for recorded delivery and another for special delivery (which is also used for Internationals) and a few reels of labels and you record the items you are sending in the despatch book, stick the labels on the packets and the then drop of the parcels at the post office and get the book(s) stamped.
In and out....nice and quick :happy72:
Alternatively, if you just use certificates of posting you just pop the parcels in the bag and get the cert stamped.
Smartstamp saves hours and hours of waiting in line to weigh and pay for the parcels.
Hope that helps xx
