why do people feel the urge to shop on either Boxing Day or New Years Day
surely they should be spending the days with family and or friends and enjoying themselves and having fun
where I work we have been told we are shut New Years Day thankfully (I was supossed to be working that one and would have been in charge as well for the normal wage - minimum) but still have to open Boxing Day
I know where I will be on Boxing Day and it will not be near a shop and the same New Years Day

My sister is one for wanting to go shopping on Boxing Day! I just really don't understand it myself, and I feel sorry for the people that end up having to work on those days. I think they should be allowed them off to spend time with their loved ones!

where I used to work we were open everyday but christmas!! one year they eve talked about getting permission to open christmas day! and coz of the agreement with the shops and the shpping centre we would have had to work!! luckily the government actully stepped in and put a ban on christmas day opening! If they had been granted permission you know bloody well that the bosses wouldn't be working, just us monkeys!!

will go shopping day after boxing day; my guess is some people just don't buy many presents for xmas and just wait for the sales- which, isn't such a bad thing to do.........but, I wouldn't want to go shopping on boxing day and I do feel for all those working that day!

Have you noticed that most banks/building societies now have to open on "Bank Holidays"?
Think the only employers that you can guarantee will be closed on these days now are council/government ones!

I agree why shop on Boxing day if people didn't then the poor shopworkers could have the time off to enjoy Christmas as well, its not fair. I think they shops should be made to shut one extra day wouldn't kill them with all the profits they make.
