Just had this e-mail.
I have just donated lots of baby goodies, thought I would pass the message on, as the thought of any child waking up thinking Father Christmas has forgotton them, brings tears to my eyes.
Could you give a Child a BRIGHTER Christmas?
Did you know that thousands of children and young people in the UK will wake up this Christmas thinking that Father Christmas has forgotten them?
Could you help?
Dear Sir / Madam
My name is Amy McKay and I am the Community Fundraiser for Barnardo's Children's Charity.
I am writing to you today to ask if you would possibly consider donating a Christmas present to a Baby, Child or Young person at your local Barnardo's service?
Barnardo's Children's Charity works with the UK's most vulnerable children and young people. We help babies, children and young people to improve their lives - we help them with problems such as: poverty, homelessness, sexual exploitation, physical and mental disability, social exclusion and much more.
Each Christmas we try to find one Christmas present for each child and young person that we work with, we always find it very hard to find these presents, but it is worth it, the children are always so excited when Father Christmas comes to visit them at their service.
We would be deeply grateful of any Christmas presents that you could donate.
Donating a Christmas present
IMPORTANT: All presents must be new, unwrapped and must not resemble guns or knives.
We would be very thankful if you could include some loose wrapping paper with your present.
Ideally all presents should be received by the 16th December 2007.
Donating one or two presents:
If you could donate one or two presents, we would be deeply grateful.
Please could you post your Christmas present to:
Christmas Appeal
Barnardo's South West Regional Office
Verona House
Filwood Road
Fishponds
BS16 3RY
I will then allocate your present to a child or young person at one of our services . . . . . and Father Christmas will then deliver your present to that child closer to Christmas.
Donating a number of Christmas presents to your local service:
We would be extremely thankful if you could ask your friends, family and work colleagues to collect Christmas Presents for your local service. Together you could gather all of your presents and deliver them directly to your local Barnardo's service.
Please call me on: 0117 966 5106 and I can tell you more about the work that your local service does, the age range of the children and how many children and young people we will be working with over the Christmas period.
Hopefully this will give you enough information to help with your present buying.
Thank you very much for your time.
Yours Faithfully
Amy McKay
