I love the old vintage sewing machines, my dad has one very similer to this one (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RARE-VINTAGE-SINGER-SEWING-MACHINE-LOOKLOOK-ANTIQUE_W0QQitemZ180183734862QQihZ008QQcategoryZ31 18QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I learned to sew with my dad's machine, and because its hand powered its easy to go at your own pace. It only does 1 type of stitch (as far as i know) but thats all i ever needed.

A few months ago i bought a sewing machine from Aldi for £45 and its really good for the money... our Aldi still has them in so i don't if others still do.

I've just bought a new one and have one going spare if you can be bothered to travel to cheshire??

I'd be happy to sell it for a bargainous £20

nothing wrong with it, I just bought a new one cause I needed one with a drop feed for my free-hand embroidery!!

Could have sworn I replied to this a few mins ago.....

I have a sewing machine going spare now as I had to upgrade to one with a drop-feed for my projects.

Its going for a bargainous £20 if you can be bothered to collect it from cheshire....

Is a modern one, but you can control the speed of it really well with the foot peddle, or for more complicated items use by spinning the dial with your hand!

oh, and whilst im/you;re here,
its got a plastic thingy that im supposed to use to make the button holes. i don't know whereim meant to put that, it won't fit under the metal foot thingy.

Strange that it's not got a diagram in the instructions to show which foot to use/how to use it?

A button hole is made using a zigzag stitch, so just give it a try with the standard foot to see what happens? As long as you work out your sizes and position, then use the machine button setting I'm sure it will work :happy72:

This article might help? pg 2 shows different feet... http://sewing.about.com/library/sewnews/library/aatech0703.htm
