I was approached 7 times by the editors a couple of years ago and I said no because I had just had investment.

I wouldn't now because whilst I would love to have their experience on board more than their money, I know they wouldn't invest so no I wouldn't.

I remember you saying that you had an answer phone message from them.

If I had a good enough idea I would consider it, but I would need someone there to do the sums/numbers!!

Ditto I don't do anything the "normal" way and running this business is no different. I have my way of doing things that takes a long time to really understand. For instance most people really do think I just wing it but those who know me know I can't put socks on without working out every possible permutation, outcome, opportunity cost, wind speed etc :cheesy: Well you have at least some idea what I mean after speaking to me but it's much worse :tcwozerek

If I had a week to explain my proposal sure - with a few minutes I'd be uterly doomed ;)

not sure, I like Duncan and Theo but they do scare the bejebbers out of me.

Did you see that woman with the tops?

No!

But there again, if I had a tenner for everyone who'd said I should go on, I wouldn't need to :cheesy:

I was nervous enough doing a podcast-interviewy-thingy, I'd probably just dissolve in front of the Dragons!

Yes Super Baby? Weren't they a horrid design, I wouldn't wear something that looked like that.

The scarf type things were shown on a 'This Morning' feature a few months ago.

No way would I subject myself to that. I am just too soft and would take what they said personally rather than constructively.

Been rethinking this one. I would like to be on dragons den - I want to be an investor!!

How fab would it be to be in that position?

No way...but one of my suppliers (Cuddledry baby bath towels) went on there a few weeks and I've almost sold out now, having not sold many at all before. I tried to place an order with them around the time they went on the program and was told I have to wait until they get their next shipment before I can buy any more. So it seems the exposure is good for business if nothing else.

LOL - was going to expand on this as saw them in real life at the birmingham baby show....but this is where I start to get a bit nervous about voicing my opinion on an open forum - I'm such a wimp, don't think I'd survive Dragon's Den!

I'd LOVE to go on there. I must confess I used to be a hardnosed sales person well used to giving presentations etc. However there's no way they'd invest in my business because it's sole purpose in life is to provide p/t employment for 4 people, and nor would I want them to invest.
When I have something else - I have a wacky web-based application that I think is unique but we've not written it yet - then I'll go for it and will take great pleasure in turning them down, and just taking the publicity thank you!

Or does anyone have anything they want me to pitch for them - for a small fee of course. :-)

I had my laptop on my knee as I watched it, right away I Googled the Super Baby name to look at the site. I wonder how many other people did the same. :happy72:

When Justiin Fletcher was in the press for his sex fumble I got lots of traffic from searches of his name.

We thought about stocking the Yes super baby range (they contacted us a while back) but I know I wouldn't wear that top, so unsure if anyone else would lol

I love Dragons Den....but every week when it comes on, I can't quite believe its Monday again...how quick time flys!

I would like to go on there if I thought I had a business idea good enough. Just being a web designer doesn't quite fit that criteria.

I have done presentations in front of hundreds of people, which is much easier than just 5 people who could then ask some very awkward questions. Would be quite exciting though.

No, I wouldn't ... but then again I don't think my business would be the type they would invest in. I am just a retail site, I do think they like "new ideas" and "inventions" more.

Yes, Super Baby ... those tops were so god damm awful, although I liked the scarf ideas.

I liked the scarf but not the top - I thought they seemed very harsh on the poor girl though - I think I've read that you spend a long time in front of them and then it all gets boiled down to a few minutes.

I think one of the smoothest operators was Ling in the last series (Ling's cars). Turned them down and got loads of publicity.

Where you a member of UKB when she was posting there? It was just after she appeared on the show.

Her site is here:
http://www.lingscars.com/ Perhaps if we all click the link she might come and tell us about it. :hysterica

Yes - I was - I think she is in the new book (which I have ordered from my library - I am a sucker for businessy books)

Duncan Bannatyne's is a really good read .
