I've been away for a few weeks after joining! Been problems at home with kids behaviour etc....and then I've had even more website trouble with my host!!

I've approached somone on here to design a new site for me and host it as well so I'll finally be free of Lycos!

Erm...other than that I've decided to run a competition on my site to try and drag catch a few people who might browse whilst they are entering - has anyone tried this before? Does it actually work?

It's for a NEW copy (not what I usually do on my site I know!) of the Simpsons game on the DS. I'm sure it would make a great prezzie for your kids! :christmasunwrap:

Well....not much on TV....but I'm going on and on...so I'll shhhh now! ;)

I do comps every so often. I don't always get sales from them but it does raise awareness of the site. Would you be better to do it when your new site launches?

Welcome back BTW

hello and welcome back!!

can't wait to see your new site :hyper:

I run competitions quite often but don't get many sales through it, it's all publicity though

p.s I'm glad you're here I need some advice

I've bought my 6 year old daughter (will be 7 on 16th Dec) a Nintendo DS Lite, I got her a Nintendogs game but have no idea what other games are suitable for her

any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I run a monthly competition, and it is usually very popular. It really helps to increase visitor numbers, and I have had people enter the competition that do come back and order (albeit a few months later usually). However, my competition last month was so unpopular I was practically begging people to enter, so it really does depend on how people value the prize compared to what they have to do to enter.

Well I looked at the games that were just released on the DS - and it was a toss up between deal or no deal or The Simpsons game!! I feel I have made the right choice!! :D

Tanya - My 7 yo son absolutely love animal crossing - I'm not convinced that he knows what he is doing properly but he IS obsessed with it! Other ones from the top of my head - MySims that has just come out is a cross between Animal crossing and the Sims where you get to build things and its a lot more fun than it sounds!
Mario party will be coming out on the DS b4 christmas and it does look good! Then there are the usual suspects like Mario kart DS, Super Mario brothers, Super princess peach - oh and Warioware touched has LOADS of 5 second minigames that are great fun!

Hope this helps! :)

this is going to be a really stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway

I don't know what the difference is between a Nintendo Ds and a DS Lite, I'm guessing one is smaller than the other BUT are the game the same  I mean do normal DS games play on DS Lites

had to ask :cheesy:

Tanya

Glad to see you back :happy72:

The first competition I had on my site generated LOADS of new hits, which led to orders and I'm sure increased my google ranking - you should add it to all the competition sites (loquax is one I can think of off-hand) - just google for free competition sites and add yours.

I have to add, this guy's customer service is excellent - my ds's birthday is next week and I know he'll be jumping with excitement at his present - it arrived in plenty of time and I'll be coming back for some games :happy72:.

dawn
xx

Good luck... I think comps do help build brand awareness - especially if you get them listed everywhere you can... I'd think that a competition in January would be good to get visitors and possible sales as people will have got new consoles for Christmas and be looking for more games as cheap as possible... my two are still too small for that games consoles still so I'm probably not much help!

As in me....you know what I look like?!

The differences in the DS lite and the DS - The DS lite is slimmer and more modern looking, has a few of the buttons in different place - but the biggest difference is in the Display. The DS lite display is a lot brighter and the graphics are more crisp - the games are the same for both of them as though!

They both appear to appeal to different peeps...I couldn't go back to the old DS as its too bulky for me, but likewise may partner hates the DS lite with a passion!

Oh I forgot to mention that the DS lite also comes with a free GBA slot cover to stop dust and bits getting in that GBA slot!
