Not sure exactly how it works - similar to paypal I assume. It's a Royal Bank of Scotland company - seehere (http://www.worldpay.co.uk/) for the site.

I thnk that it is secure credit card detail collection & maybe processing - You can definately do more with it than paypal, and It is more of a 'proper shop' feel IYSWIM.

They can use credit or debit cards. If you take it on your site they take 8 weeks to pay you!! Worth it if you have a high turnover though as they will give you a warning if the transaction is dodgy!

What are they? BLEEDIN EXPENSIVE ;) It costs a few hundred to set up and they take a big piece of the pie each time plus charge you a fee when they pay. However! They are super dooper secure, check address, postcode and security code against all transactions and report them back to you.
It works the same as paypal, you checkout and go to a new screen, enter your details then are forwarded back to the site you came from completion screen. Like paypal you can edit the templates to make it look like your store but I haven't done that yet.
I don't get paid often becuase I set me amt higher to avoid paying too many fees but they pay 4wks in arears after you reach the limit you set (min £10). I also paid to be able to take phone payments which I did today coincidentally, I just log in put in the details as the customer waits and it goes through. It's effectively a merchant account.

You may find someone like Protx will work out cheap /betetr terms than Worldpay. I'm sure waiting 4 weeks for your money will not help cashflow when setting up.

I use Protx and pay a set monthly charge as a small business - you do have to have a merchant account though but I managed to get one quite easily with Lloyds TSB cardnet (I read somewhere that they were the best place if you don't have business history and the process was very simple)

I looked into worldpay and they are very expensive. Will look into TSB though
