Hi

I am writing a feature for a glossy parenting magazine about the well-trampled topic of SLEEP! Please give me your tips on how to get babies and toddlers to sleep - or keep them asleep! Methods, products, routines, I want the lot! Just reply to this thread of write to me at rachel_delahaye@hotmail.com and remember to state whether you're talking about a baby or a toddler. I'd like names and cities, says Rachel Delahaye of Worcester, but if you'd rather your name wasn't used then let me know and I'll make sure it isn't. I can't wait to hear your tips and tricks (for my own two bedtime nightmares as well as the magazine feature!).

Kind regards, Rachel xxx

Hi,

I found that my biggest lifesaver was investing in some baby sleeping bags. I was recommended to swaddle my DD by the HV, which worked a treat, and then moved onto sleeping bags once she had outgrown swaddling. I also found that a bedtime routine of bath, bedclothes, feed and then playing music (the Rock Baby CD for the more alternative child!) really helped. Nothing really radical I'm afraid!

That's brilliant. Just the sort of thing we need!

Keep them coming!

After trying for several nights to settle my DS2 in a cot in his own room I placed my nighty in with him. He settled really well after I did that. I think it was because he could smell me on it.

The sleeping bags worked a treat with DS3 as well.

I was at my wits end when DS was 8 months old and wouldnt sleep for more than an hour at a time.My HV suggested i try controlled crying and although i didnt like the sound of it i was so desperate i did it and it worked within two nights.

I wasnt going to make the same mistakes with DD so from the time she came home from hospital we had a set routine. As she was a large baby she was able to go straight into a sleeping bag.So it was sleeping bag on, milk, wind and then up into her cot while she was still awake. She sometimes cried, but we would go and check her and then leave again. We havent had a problem since:crossfing and she is two now.
