Just wondering how you started your business, was it on impulse or did you spend a lot of time researching?

Can a business started on an impulse do well?

Mine was total impulse and accident - my kids liked hama beads, i had an idea (which has by and large ended up swamped in the mass of that actual business) got put through to the md of the supplier without a thought or business plan, winged it, spent £300 of child allowance on stock - and bobs your uncle.

Would have been easy to let it slide in the early days without ever seeing real success, but now... success :)

An impulse for me, in that before I had the idea for the Feed Wheel I would never in a million years have thought of running my own business.

I just sort of followed the idea through, and before I knew it I had a spare room full of cards, and I had to get out there and sell them :D

As for success, well, I'm still in business :cheesy: and it seems to be going from strength to strength...

My business was started after I was working for a web design company locally, then did some work from home for them after Aiden was born (he was 4 weeks early so I still had work I was doing for them LOL).

I realised that I could work from home doing web stuff for myself rather than for another company and so started up Glassraven. I had previously done a few small jobs for other people whilst trading as ZeroWeb but then someone else started trading on the name so when I started up 'properly' in 2002 I registered Glassraven and that was that :D
