I guess I've got to work out my budget... any other tips?

Get an ad designed professionally, it looks so much better. Work out who you are targetting and then go for the publications they read. Ask what kind of editorial is in the mag - is there anything that can link in with your products? Bargain them down, don't go for the first price they offer you! Ask about their circulation so you can see how many people are likely to see your ad.

Dont forget to look in to as many free methods of advertising too. I'm still struggling myself big time but there are a lot of cheap or free ways to do it it's just a case of figuring them out which is where I still am!! I'm pennyless now *sigh* so until I can invest more I need to figure some of them myself.
