It isn't relevant for anyone that is already pregnant.
Seems a bit daft any way, as anyone that cares about what they eat are probably already eating reasonably healthily, and everyone else will just spend it on fags and alcohol.

i think it's a great idea, anything to increase the health of preggy ladies and unborn babaies can only be a good thing but personally handing out cash seems a bit daft really, it would be better handed out in vouchers maybe for certain foods spread over the entire pregnancy rather than one big payment?! thanks for the link though vicky, was very interesting! x x x

I agree that a voucher scheme would be much better, the whole thing is a great idea in theory but how many will just spend the money on other things and not the purpose it was intended for ?

If they spent £200 educating those that need it on how to prepare healthy food, and why they should eat it, and show them it can be cheaper to eat healthy, I think that would be a useful use of the money, but those that don't need the education would, I guess, lose out then.
Perhaps spending that money on better cooking lessons in school even, that way girls and boys could learn the value of good healthy food, and be taught how easy it is to prepare/

Good point, I was shocked when I watched the jamie Oliver school dinner programme that many children couldn't even name some of the really common veg.

I personally think its going to be a waste of time (at least how they are saying about it atm)
How many expectant mothers are actually going to spend that money on healthy eating when there are nappies, pushchairs/prams, cots, cot beds, bedding, clothing etc to bought aswell.
I can just see it being used by a lot of people on the above as opposed to what it is actually being thought about for.
