Aww sorry to hear about your fishy's.

Were they looking ill/spotty or was it out of the blue?

Don't give up just yet, give the tank a water change then let it cycle for a week. Get one hardy fish for another week then slowly introduce more fish.

We have a marine set up with only 2 fish, a shrimp and a crab atm. We did have more but lost about 5 fish in a week, not sure why but we think one of the fish that we put in had a disease.

We have a more natural attitude to our fish whereby we've never used stress coat or fancy potions. I would suggest getting a ph kit though as some fish are sensitive to ph changes. Dh's nan was forever putting one thing or another into her tank and it always seemed to have problems or be cloudy.

Hope you next try goes better.

Hi

one fish is dead the other is just habgin in the water, but i have done a 50% water change. Its body is covered in tiny bubbles..especially the tail, and kind of like furry looking...it just came on over night, both fish were swimming about and looked to be ok yesterday.
I think this one will die though...its doesnt look too good. it will just hang there then all of a sudden do a little swim, but mostly just hanging at surface..not opening its mouth much either.
I joined a fish forum, and they told me to get the stress coat stuff. Maybe i should just give it a miss..and just use the anti chlorine and the test kit with the next lot of fish.

We got a tank yesterday, the water is in to but we won't get fish for a couple of weeks.

The man in the shop suggested a salt product to add to the water, you do it once every six months.

DP has been adding food to the tank, not sure why but he says this does something

He said that you never change more than 25% of the water at a time.

It's to make the tank set up quicker. Bacteria and nitrates will build up which starts your filter working how it's supposed to and friendly bacteria will build up.

I was told by the man at the pet place we bought the fish from, he says the stress zyme is used to set up a tank..
i found this also

Contains 100 million live bacteria per teaspoonful. Helps keep a naturally balanced aquarium by eliminating sludge build-up & preventing ammonia & nitrite poisoning, low oxygen levels & low pH. Use when setting up and maintaining an aquarium.
