DH has said it should only cost around £200 to have it fixed, but it depends on what else has been damaged. Good luck and I hope you get more than £50 for it.

I've been told near £600 and that is why I am selling it. Oh I hate cars and am useless with all of this. Oh well, it's done now, hopefully though if someone else can see that I will get more for it. Thanks Bunny.

im not saying he is wrong, but renaults are known for head damage, plus you have to diagnose why the head gasket failed. if i was doing the job, you would need oil and filter, water pump, cambelt, head gasket set, new head bolts (as they are what is known as stretch bolts, and cant be reused) plus you would need to have the head checked for any distortion, and maybe have it skimmed. but i feel £200 is a little on the optimistic side

£16.90 for bolts
£37.50 for head gasket set
£21.50 for water pump
£10.00 for anti-freeze
£3.50 for oil filter
£15.00 for a decent oil
£65.00 for cambelt set

all these prices are assuming that its the 8 valve model, it will be more for the 16 vavle version

thats £169.40 for parts

having the head checked is around £40 plus any work that may need to be done

plus labour, like i said assuming its the 8v 4-5 hrs, a bit more for the 16v

btw i got the parts prices from here https://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/ if you went to a renault main dealer, you can almost double it
