Can anyone clarify mainland UK for me? I put that I can only deliver items within mainland UK in my delivery terms in order to exclude deliveries to the Scottish Isles, Northern Island and the Channel Islands. However, I've just received an order from Belfast and thought I'd double check on Google (as I can't find the info on Royal mail), and some people include Belfast as part of 'mainland UK'. Am very confused!!

I recently changed mainland UK to United Kingdom, because I've had orders from Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, and they have the same postage rate.
Interesting about the Scottish Isles - do they all have the same postage rate too?

It depends who you send the item with. Parcel Force, who are part of the Royal Mail, treat the Scottish Islands and Highlands and the Channel Islands as more expensive than Mainland UK, whereas for everything I've sent to the Channel Islands etc so far with normal Royal Mail it has cost the same as mainland UK.

Hiya! - I live in Belfast, it depends - usually I take UK to mean including NI, sometimes it says Mainland UK, which obv does not include NI - thing that annoys me is that it usually (may be wrong here) doesnt cost any more to send things to NI so why pay more? - check out Royal Mails website for more details - long story short, NI is part of UK, is not UK Mainland. Hope this helps!!!! gd12

Thanks. I also thought that putting mainland UK would only mean England, Scotland & Wales, but I saw an EU directive that said NI was part of mainland Britain, which really tied me in knots. However, it's amazing how many people order things without checking the terms & conds. I had an e-mail this afternoon from a lady in the US asking how much the shipping costs would be for a Cosatto wardrobe.

Hi
I live on the Inner Hebrides (Scottish Isles) I can tell you that that Royal Mail do not charge extra to post here, only couriers do.

Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands are classed as mainland UK and have the same postage rates.

Yes I agree NI is part of the UK, I have to put inland on my site though as for some stupid reason my carrier charges me £16 to go to NI rather than £5.95 for inland

Does anyone know if a BFPO address is the same as standard UK?
