Putting this in the WAH section in case there are any mums in business with property.
a house has come up for sale literally down the road, I think the last owner must have died from old age as it hasn't been touched in decades. Its one of the last to be modernised.
It has more potential to extend than our house, I'd like to move there and rent out our home as we seem to be in a steadily price rising area.
Does anyone rent out properties, how did you get a second mortgage before you had tenants in?
Any advice would be appreciated as I think we will have to be pretty quick with this.

no worries, I spoke to my uncle who invests in property. going to have to get this house valued and look at buy to let mortgages. Will just have to be quick.

I'm more concerned about the fact that we will be just down the road and that the tenants could be knocking on the door every day! We are not great at keeping on top of our DIY as it is, let alone for someone else.

it may be that we just have to move to the house down the road and sell this one.

Jazz - you could always get a managing agent to look after it for you? I know you have to pay for the service but then you wouldn't get the hassle..
