Please help before i get rid of this Kitten he is driving me mad. 99% of the time he will use his litter tray he always seems to use it if he needs a wee but ever now and then (and its getting more frequent) he will poo right in front of our front door. I have tried everything. Cleaning it with washing powder has been sugested, putting his food near it. Last night i cleaned his tray out and straight away he had a wee in it, so i thought oh good, i get up this morning and he has been by the front door again. Im at my wits end, i cant put the tray in front of the door as it opens inwards. I have even tried "get off" spray but that doesnt work. Please help!

How old is he???
How clean is the tray??? is it over clean??? Sometimes if you remove all the poo from the tray they cant smell where to go try leaving a little bit there so he knows where to go
Try spraying by the door with lavender or tea tree oil they dont like that.
Does he go out???
what litter are you using? i've found some cats are funny about there litter one of mine would'nt use woodlit

Any think else i can try to helpyou with i will try my best

cats don't like the smell of lemon. Try spraying near the door with that.

And if you catch him doing it, you should "shoot" him with a water pistol (sounds cruel, but works)

It isn't exactly the same, but my cat went bonkers when I recently had a baby. There is a special plug-in called Felaway that gives off pheremones to make the cat feel loved. Maybe you could try using Felaway near the litter tray to give your kitten a good feeling about using it !?

Thanks ill give some of that a try at the moment ill try anything. He was born on mothers day so i guess he is about 4 months old, The Vet siad he would grow out of it but i cant keep cleaning it up. He cnt go out as we live in a flat and he has never been out. We r using catsan at the moment.

Some cats like a hooded cat litter tray, hows about trying that ?

Or put the tray as near to the door as safe - then move it bit by bit, to where u want it , till he associates going on the tray to wee/poo and not the floor.
And yes I agree with hector, the tray may well be too clean and he doesnt like the smell at all.
Hope this helps

Bingo is doing exactly the same in Abbies bedroom and I have also tried everything, she does it at night I think, most to of the rest of the time we keep her door shut.

|I've always found catsan to be the best, i know its fustrating ive had house cats and sometimes the training can be a nightmare, hopefully your kitten will get to grips with the tray soon.

my kitten done the same - bad when they have pooed and you open the door from out side.................. smudge lmao

anywho I had to keep her in one room with her litter tray (which was hooded) for a while and it seems to have worked (I used the kitchen, as it was large enough for her to play in). She used to be terrible if I left anything soft on the stairs then that would be used as a toilet, the things I have thrown out is nuts.
