What on earth is going on???????????

Wundatigga

OMG!!! People not happy about the olympics one day... next theres explosions in London... Coincidence??? Or maybe something to do with G8???

bikemad
07-07-2005, 11:03 AM
One girl on another site is panicing cos she lives near the g8 summit and is worrying incase something happens there!!!!

People are really sick!!!!!!!!How can you do such a thing!!!!!

bikemad
07-07-2005, 11:05 AM
Originally they said a power surge but it aint that cos three buses have had blasts on them!!!

bikemad
07-07-2005, 11:14 AM
They have said now it has all the hallmarks of an Al queida attack!!!!!And some mobile networks have been turned off in London incase the bombs are detonated by phones.

Ravenfire
07-07-2005, 11:15 AM
Its terrible. A lot of focus is on this country at the moment with the Olympics selection and the G8 and I personally feel it has been planned with this in mind. How terrible and upsetting.

bikemad
07-07-2005, 11:19 AM
Looks like o2 network has been turned off-cant use my mobile so dont know if other networks are down or if it is cos it so busy with people texting others in London.

Ravenfire
07-07-2005, 11:20 AM
Mine seems to be ok at the moment, BT Mobile

angeleyes
07-07-2005, 11:20 AM
it makes you wonder, wether there is more to come, maybe this is a build up to something big, i dont want to upset anyone, but it could be?

Macaroni
07-07-2005, 11:21 AM
It has to have been planned. Im inclined to think its aimed at the G8 , getting the olympics was pure coincidence !

Its really scary and really puts me off going into London. I dont really like the tube anyway as you realise just how deep underground you are.

I really feel for those who live and work there.

I have a feeling you could be right angeleyes, tbh I dont think this is the end of it. I thank god my brothers not on there today as he quite often has to visit london for work and use the tube

Macaroni
07-07-2005, 11:24 AM
I agree Angel, although its quite bad there is a lot worse that could be done to harm people

Ravenfire

The London transport network has been rocked by a series of explosions. The entire Tube network has been suspended. Here are the stations that have been reportedly affected so far:

Aldgate: People seen leaving the station 'streaming with blood' after reported explosions and train collision in nearby tunnel. Police sealed off several streets around Aldgate and told people to stand back as ambulances were bringing out casualties. A spokesman for the City of London Police said there were "quite a large number of casualties" at Aldgate Station.

Edgware Road: Explosion reported on Tube trains, with a British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman saying that two trains remained stuck in tunnels. Scores of police and fire engines filled Edgware Road as shocked passengers left the scene of one of the explosions. The area around the station was completely cordoned off as walking wounded emerged from the scene.

Moorgate: Explosion was reported at Tube station.

Russell Square: Eyewitnesses reported that a packed double decker bus in the Russell Square area had been severely damaged in a blast. Scotland Yard confirmed the bus explosion and said it was dealing with "multiple explosions" in London.

Tavistock Place: Scotland Yard confirm explosion on bus.

Old Street: Incident reported. No details as yet.

King's Cross: Reported explosion. People seen leaving the scene with serious injuries.

Liverpool Street: Reported explosion.

Marylebone: An explosion was reported to have occurred.

South Kensington: An explosion was reported to have occurred.

Main line train networks are stopping trains entering London.

Ravenfire

Well thats no surprise really, my first thoughts on hearing about it. If we are honest we knew this would happen at some point, doesnt make it any easier to deal with when it does and all we can do is hope and pray that there are no more deaths or injuries :(

Ravenfire

BM tbh I think they will concentrate on one area as it has more impact. There are bound to be loads of scare stories going around though

Netty
07-07-2005, 12:24 PM
1205 Prime Minister Tony Blair, at the G8 summit in Gleneagles, says there has been "a series of terrorist attacks in London... people have died and are seriously injured... It is reasonably clear this is designed and timed to coincide with the opening of the G8". He says he will return to London within hours, but that the summit will continue without him

Pie is safe this message has been passed on to a friend of hers:

"Just spoken to Pie - she is safe. She had caught the bus upto Ikea and is now getting a cab back. Unfortunatley her brother was on one of the trains - he is uninjured but very shaken up"

Glad to hear she is ok

7 on the 7th of the 7th ....

:grouphug: to everyone with friends/relatives in the area.

One of the mums at school (at nursery collection time) said she had had to phone her brothers and sisters in London. They were ok - one brother's phone was off so she hadn't spoken to him ... just hope it was the network that was down at the time ...

Generally it is the prime minister that deals with situations like this and at the moment they are unaware of the full facts I would imagine.

bikemad
07-07-2005, 01:37 PM
read this on another forum:

person 1:
"A colleague of my mums, his wife works in Canary Wharf and there has been a shooting there and they've all got to stay in the building until it's all sorted out. What is the world coming too?"

person 2:

"I'd heard this too. Apparently a Police Marksman took down another suicide bombler. "

no reports on the news of this yet tho?

OMG, I'm just horrified at all of this (even after living here all my life I still go cold when I hear of bombs anywhere). Fingers crossed the death toll doesn't rise any more, although looking at some of the pictures I don't understand how it isn't higher than 2.
I just want to get madam and give her such a hug but the childminder is away out with her for the day. I know that I'm lucky she's too young to understand but how on earth can anyone explain to their kids that some people hate others so much that they're willing to take their own lives to kill others. It's beyond belief.

angel1980
