Seems to be quite a few on here who like motorbikes or their DP's n kids do so thought i'd start a thread bout it.
Me im just as my name says bikemad-my dp has a FZR600.I have just had provisional motorbike added to my licence as hope to take my test in time.My lad adores bikes as most of you will have seen by his room-lol.
When it is the racing season we go to at least two races plus go to bike shows too.
So tell us all about yourself, what bikes you like or ride etc then we can use this thread as a sticky for anything motorbike related we want to natter about.
O n id give my right arm for an mvaugusta f4 but would settle for a R6.

Nice one BM Happy banana
We try to get to 2 races a year as well.Went to Thruxton and Brands Hatch last year. This year if we camp at brands will have to remember my ear plugs. It's unbelievable that theres 120,000 people there and 20,000 on the campsite.
We watch all the races on telly and the kids know that races Sundays are Mcdonalds day so they don't mind to much.Only another 2 weeks until season starts again.Who will you be following?
We support Chris Walker in WSB and last year BSB was a bit of rivalry here cos Dh wanted Rutter to get it but I wanted Shakey(i should have put money on it).
Motogp wasn't as exciting last year except 125 and 250 but this year we are hoping it's better with more GB guys racing.
Dh rides Suzuki blue and white thing but only for commuting to work,i don't ride now but when i was younger used to have a Suzuki RG125 in Pepsi colours.I never passed my test although i tried(put my foot down on a u-turn).
Biking runs in my family,my dad had a bike for most of his life, both b-i-ls ride so i suppose this is where the biking bug comes from.

Hi everyone,
Is there room for another one?
I passed my test when i was 30 and had a GSXR 400 done in the Rizla racing colours, this alas didn't last that long as my dh got me pregnant LOL.Still love bikes but have not been riding since Harvey was born
Hubby lives for bikes and has worked with Ducati all his working life. There isn't one in the garage at home at the moment because he can use what ever he likes from work.He and some others have open velocemotorcycles so he is now one happy bunny.
Harvey has his own quad and he loves to watch daddy race Moto X.He is riding a Honda CRF 450 at the moment and new season started this weekend :D
So yes......bike crazy house this is too
Will post some pickies when i have worked out how too
Kerry
ok,lets see if i can do this....

Aaaw-dont he look cute on the quad. "Yes"
I'd like to get Jordan an off road bike but I sat him on one in the bike shop n even the smallest was way to big for him so wait a bit.
I love BSB n GP tho used to love WSBK when Bayliss n Edwards were battling it out for the title-the last race was amazing to watch.
In GP I follow-yeah you guessed it-Troy Bayliss-cant wait to see how he does this season.Cant stand Rossi as he is too big for his boots so i'l be intersted to see if he can show it is his riding that wins(now he with Yam) as opposed to what I firmly believe which is that it is the bike n not him that won the races but time will tell.Hope Edwards does better this year too.
In BSB last year I didnt really root for anyone as such but kept a close eye on Shakey,Rutter n Reynolds.
In World it will be intersting to see how Foggy's team do this year after a whole winter to work at the bike.
Counting down to the begining off the season-sunday ritual in our house-lol
We camped at Donny for the last BSB but didnt stay on the Donny track site but on a camp site just behind as didnt think my lad would sleep if we stayed on site iykwim.
Gonna look at prices for camping for the GP in Britain this summer n see bout maybe going to that this year.
Have to make this thread a sticky then thru the season we can chat bout how all the riders are doing.

Lol,think you may have the right one ,can never remember the bits after the bike make.
Reading the stats from the Valencia tests Corser seems to be going well but Walker was back in 10th or 11th place.
Have you heard anything about a charity race day at Castle Coombe? I think i read that the BSB riders would be involved, might be worth another day out if they are.

Not heard about it but i'm on a motorbike forum so when I go on tomorrow i'l ask if anyone knows about it.
Reckon if Corser had the bike set up right n in tip top condition then he could be a good contender-think it is the bike letting him down tbh.

Thanks for the link.Think that must be what i'd heard about.
We'd probably be up for a day out to that so if we go lets arrange something.
Have you been to castle Coombe before? Dh did a track day there but it was raining for most of the day so they din't make the most of it.
My bil recently did a track day there and won some vouchers and another day for completeing the millionth kilometer(or something like that).Turns out they pulled his name out of a hat :D

:( I dont go on bikes anymore. I used to be married to a bike lover, he had a GSX750 and I used to have the full kit, including a lovely Shoei (SP?) helmet. I did try to do my CBT as well but it was a wet day and we were out on the roads and my bike went the opposite way to me..lol..and I decided from then on I was better as a passenger! "ROTFL"

Definatly let me know if you are going and we can arrange to meet up if we are going too.

Ive been to Castle Coombe once when dh did a track day there. It's about 50 miles from us.
The weekend is just after dh's birthday so i may be able to persuade him to out for the day.
When dh went through his phase of having different hobbies he did a race weekend at Pembrey, sadly he came last and never did it again. "ROTFL"

The waiting is nearly over jump for joy
We watched the superpole yesterday, i'm gonna have to start learning riders numbers, there's alot of yellow bikes in it this year.
The Fila Ducati's seem to have the edge on it again especially Laconi who was a second faster than Toseland.
Keeping my fingers crossed for Walker and Vermulan(sp?) cos he looks like he's gonna do quite well this year, and go Haslam front row for his first proper race.

Was gobsmaked this morning-there was a prog on s4c about overcoming probs n prejudices n a biker guy was on there who is totally blind and he was doing all sorts of stunts-stoppies,wheelies,burnouts going around in a circle aand more.Have any of you heard of him as I didnt catch his name-was unbelievable-he has two bikes behind him talking to him just incase there is an obsticle but I still reckon that is amazing for someone that is blind-he wasnt even on a small bike but on a Fazer once and a Hyabusa another time.

I don't know his name but it's amazing what people will overcome to get on a bike.
I remember reading in mcn about a bloke who had lost the use of his legs but had his bike set up so he could still ride it.He had a kind of stabiliser system that came down when he slowed to a certain speed as if he was stopping,so when he stopped at junctions, lights he didn't fall over sideways.
Started counting the days again-7 to go until BSB and next WSB. Happy banana

In Denmark it's tradision that when an amusement park called "Bakken" (the hill) opens round spring, anyone who owns a bike rides it there in processions it takes hours n hours but it looks gr8. Rockers n civilians side by side, n loads of police to keep it "clean". I love standing on the brigde n wacht them arrive.

Racing was so good i watched it again on Eurosport.
What they didn't say on BBC was that Frankie lost his nan last week so he dedicated the race to her.He got quite emotional during the interview.
We've never been Foggy fans here maybe because we came to racing during his last years so never really got that hooked by him, although we can see talent when it's there like Rossi. Not really fans but you can't knock him for what he did yesterday even though we were cheering on Biaggi.
I will say though the FP1 is a really nice looking bike in the flesh and it sounds great so hopefully with new engines they may be up there more often.

One of the few times I went on back of dh's 6r I nearly came off the back. We'd come down a slight hill coming onto a straight and without warning he opened the throttle up and ducked down behind the fairing. The wind hit me with such force it blew me back, lifted my feet off the footpegs which then folded up.
I was left trying to keep my feet up banging on his shoulder to slow down so I could put the footpegs back down. "ROTFL"
The moral of this story is: don't lift your feet up :D

LOL-I can just picture that-bet it was a sight-lol.
First time ive used grab rails today as dp dont like em or me but we have got steeeeeeeeeeeeep hills here n going down one at 1mph in a jam n I couldnt stay on the seat and was falling into dp so used them then but boy is it a cool bike-ds thinks it is brilliant n was so chuffed to go up the lane n back on it without me holding him-last time I held him on coz he was little but couldnt have anyway this time as had to run just to stick with the back of the bike-lol.
Ds has now pronounced he wants a blue ninja with a blue helmut n leathers for him to ride at the front fast!!!!!!!!! "duh"

Er me being childish-dont like green or red ones coz his ex had em-lol-stupid really-lol
Yeah uh o re ds "duh"
The sound on em is amazing n dp had the scorpion race can on so was even louder but have changed it now to a micron road legal one coz the cops are clamping down big time around here on tinted visors n race cans-oooops we got both-lol
snowy1974
13-05-2004, 11:29 PM
Sounds a good enough reason to me.
We don't seem to have the clamp downs on cans and visors just speeding around here.
The road dh travels to work on always seems to have cameras on.He said "he thinks he got flashed yesterday".I asked "how fast were you going"."Oh only about 100"
So now we just wait.....
bikemad
13-05-2004, 11:40 PM
LOL-my neighbour was peefed today-there is a stretch of road covered in cameras n she still does 110 every day on it yet she got caught for speeding doing 49 on another road-she reckoned she wouldnt have minded if there was some speed but 49. "thud"

LOL at the up n down points.
Flippin dull really getting flashed at 34 really-it aint even 5miles over the limit.
Dp got points for speeding about 3 years ago but that was the car but he is extra careful now if he knows there are cameras.
The cops are speed camera and racecan mad around here tbh-if we go on the brecon, llandovery then abergavenny run on a sunday there are hundreds of them around just waiting to pounce.
