Hello, im a cloth fanatic and thought it was time i joined in one of these forums instead of just sitting back and gleaming tips. My nappies (mainly pocket nappies have started smellig a bit lately after about an hr of wear. They are about 8 months old - its mainly the inserts - do they need replacing after a while or is ther someting i can do - heard something about white vinegar but couldnt say what it it i need to do with it. I am about to go on a spend soon as my babe is almost growing out of his medium happy heinys - anyone reccomend anythign simialr. I was looking on nappyzone and was thinking about a drybee - anyone any experience of it as if its any good i was going to have a print but if not i will play safe and order a print fuzzi - have you seen the new girly one its lovely but i have a boy so not so good for me - zoo fuzzi or print drybee? Failing that i was looking at a birth to potty - wonderoos or bumgenius - any comments appreciated.

white vinegar - right so just add inthe drawer a glug? I was thinking about wonderoos as they are on 3 for £30 - they were 3 for 2 a while back but i was too slow! The drybees are tempting me though with there camoflauge print! sensibly i should go for a brth to potty for value for money but im easy lured by fancy prints - so wish i had a dd in nappies for that fuzzi gingham one!

Welcome to the forum.
If they smell, it may be that you are using too much laundry detergent. I know that is illogical, but you actually only need to use half as much detergent as is recommended. This is because the nappies are so good at absorbing the water in the machine and don't want to let it go, that the machine has to work extra hard to rinse it out.
White vinegar is good at helping to prevent your nappies going hard, and can help with smells too. A good glug in the fabric softener section of your washing machine should do the trick.
Some people do use tea tree oil as has been mentioned before. If you want to then add a few drops with the vinegar. However, some people are irritated by tea tree oil (not many) so if a rash suddenly appears then stop using it. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties as well as helping the nappies to smell nice.
Hope that helps.
