I heard about this years ago. All mine have had dummies - after all babies need to suck!

DS3 is the only one of my boys so far that haven't wanted a dummy - both DS1 and 2 had one from pretty young (and they were a godsend I have to say)

We did try DS3 with one, but he wanted his comfort blanket instead which was a new one to us (covering his face whilst he slept too  )

dd has one but I do try and limit use to nap and bedtime, she is ok with this arrangement, lol

I think anything that helps reduce this is worth trying but if baby dont want one it cant be forced. I heard about the dummy thing while I was pregnant, so they dont fall into a very deep sleep during the night.

my ds who died of cot death was a. given a dummy b. slept on his back. c. never slept with me d. at that time i didnt smoke nor did anyone in the house.
e. had a proper mattress.

amongst many things that they say causes cot death. its just one of them things and every parent that had lost a child to s.i.d.s. is made to feel it is their fault.
i now help other parents and the first thing i say is its not your fault.
makes me really angry that they blame something we must have done.

:kisshands: Rach04 I'm sorry about your loss, and I agree, it must be a terrible thing to lose a baby AND be told "it's your fault"

I'm amazed you have the strength to help others now who face the same suffering and pain, you must be a lot braver than I think I would be.

it was 10 yrs this year and in that time i have heard loads of things on what causes cot death. in fact ds1 n 2 and dd all co slept with no dummy.
It wasnt that long ago they were telling you not to give them dummies cause they cause defects in the mouth.
When i get to the familys and all they say is we did this wrong and did that wrong it really angers me.

sads (sudden adult death syndrome) is the same thing in adults no cause no explanation but do you hear anything about what you should and shouldnt do no! cause it cant be helped! ok babys need you and adults dont but the point im trying to make is that its hard to lose a child with out picking up a newspaper and read that your the one that caused it. sorry for my rant:cheesy: and thanks everyone xxxxxx
