A few of us discussed meeting up in the summer, are we going to get this sorted?
There is a few of us in Northants and Notts, the only central place I can think of would be Twin Lakes. The only problem is that there is so much to do that we wouldn't get a chance to gossip.
Are there any suitable country parks perhaps?

I'm just over the border into Lincs. Can I come too please if I promise to tie/gag the boys up? I've lived in Corby, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Nottingham... (just trying to get some Midland credentials going here!!!). What about Rutland Water? or Burrough Hill (Iron age fort, just outside Melton. Big hills for kids to run up/fly kites etc but no commercial opportunities for them to pester over?:cheesy: :cheesy:

Wow, there are alot of Northants & nearby people on here! Rutland Water is beautiful. Twin Lakes is awesome. There's also Conkers near Ashby de la Zouch which is fantastic too. (www.visitconkers.com).
I feel too much like a newbie to join in but am sitting here daring myself!

Are any of those places accessible (easily) by train?

Oakham station is nearest to Rutland water. Rutland water is 23 miles in circumfrance so it depends which shore we met on. If we met on the side nearest Oakham then you could get a taxi perhaps. I have a seven seater so I would have three seats free if anyone needed picked up from there. I can also get hold of two spare car seats.

Nottingham would be easier by train since it is a proper station.
I think you can easily get a train from Leicester to Oakham, not sure where else the trains go to from oakham since it is small. There is Oakham to London too.

Lets sort a date, does anyone have any days they can't do? Or days you prefer?
31st I am otherwise engaged :cheesy: and the first Friday/Saturday in August.
DS is going to a holiday club one day per week but I haven't booked that yet.

I have bolded the two I can't do. If we keep copying the post down and bold the dates we each can;t do then we should eliminate a date :cheesy: I would prefer a midweek meet.
