Hi
I have been making my own cards for a while now to give to family etc, I have bene thinking about selling them locally and possibly on the net, I wondered if anyone would mind having a quick look at these and telling me what they think of them, I had thought of selling them at £1.00-£1.50 each including p&p if on net any thoughts?

I like them Jane... I have always been interested in card making but have never got round to doing it (typical excuse I know!!).. the prices you suggest seem about right too. Was just wondering.. would you also take on commissions (as in if someone asks for a specific card)??

Best of luck xx

They are very nice Jane, however, I happen to know that selling cards is very difficult to do (as I have heard from a number of wahm's that do it). I guess if its just a sideline and not your main business then its not such a worry although I would hesitate to spend to much on outlay until you get some idea of how well they sell.

Thanks RavenFire, am also pleased you like them, yes at the mo its just a little sideline,. I have been making cards for a while and my husband keeps telling me i should sell them but havnt plucked up the courage to do it yet. I think i might try them out on my clothes website (quick plug for www.kidzrags.co.uk) and see if they sell, any other ideas on where they might sell (would have to be cheap) would be helpful

thanks

Jane

I love the designs you have, I also make cards for my family and friends, some of them have even asked to me to make some for them. I know I could sell mine but also realise there is a limited market for them so I'd end up making no money.

Bunny I remember seeing yours they were lovely. Where does everyone get their materials. We have a big hobbycraft near us that sells all sorts of things for cards.

HI Jane.

Good luck. I make cards too and find quite a few places to sell them, kids school fairs etc. Quite often local hairdressers will allow you to leave a basket full in their reception area and I have a display in the local florists and a boutique in our village. I do have a permanent stock of around 200 cards though which I use to top up and swap with as I find that the same customers often look at them and want to see something different. I sell all of mine for £2.00 each which is quite a good price as you would pay around that for a printed card in most shops. I assume that you are putting them in cellophane to keep them clean and you must put your name and phone/web details on the backs which is great as I do get people phoning asking for personalised ones sometimes. If only I knew how to make a website I'd do it lol.

Hope it goes well.

Love Kate

Hi Kate
Thanks for your advice, will have a go at seeing if anywhere local will stock them, do you mind if i ask what % the shops keep for themselves when they sell one of your cards?
Thanks

Hi Jane.

For simplicity I usually sell them for £2 each and they keep 50p which sounds alot but isn't really as they are making about 150% on printed cards that they buy from the wholesalers. Hope this helps.

Love Kate, P.s. where abouts in the country are you, email me at

katefrancis@blueyonder.co.uk if you like

Good luck.

Hi Kate

Thanks for that, seems a reasonable cut to me, am based in nottingham, have put them on my website www.kidzrags.co.uk (http://www.kidzrags.co.uk) to test them out but is hard to know because this isnt the kind of thing my site normally sells.
Any advice you have on how to approach shops etc would be welcome

many thanks

Jane
