I have only just heard about this from a friend of mine recently so went on the web and serched for some info and came across this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/5190306.stm) from the BBC, it's a while back ago though. Anyway, ds had his 3rd set of jabs today and dp and I thought that we'd try it out, so we asked to bf ds when he had his jabs, the nurses were a bit like 'oh we've never heard anything about it' and gave us a blank look, anyway we went ahead..I sat down, put ds on and the nurse injected him almost straight away, ds was screaming then and wasn't even interested in sucking! The nurse put the 2nd needle in secs later..ds just kept screaming. We were then told to turn ds round so that they could give him the final jab, ds was just screaming and crying all the way..a bit disappointed that it didn't quite work out..thought that perhaps bf could help ds through his jabs..but gotta say ds was kind of so distressed that he didn't really get to suck at all, it all just happened so quickly! We were there for less than 5 mins!!

Has anyone tried breastfeeding when your kiddies had their jabs and if so how did it go??

I had a friend who did this and it worked....but i never have....and when i took DD to her jabs she was a bit grizzly and the doc asked if she was hungry and did i want to feed her before the jabs...(she wasnt actually hungry) but i asked her about feeding during the jabs - and she said that she has babies who are breastfed when having jabs and then a their feeding goes a bit off as they associate feeding with the pain?
anyway - ive never done it - but as i say, a friend of mine did it with all of her jabs with her DS and he grizzled a bit but no screaming

My nurse suggested this with my first son. I didn't want to tbh, I always thought of it as a lovely peaceful time together and didn't want him to be put of b/f.

Have heard of it, but never tried it. Normally feed straight after jabs though and my ds2 is normally fine after that.

I fed both of mine while they were having their jabs and neither of them so much as flinched! I didn't even consider the possibility that they might associate bf with pain TBH nut luckily that didn't happen.
