This year, Kids Week (www.kidsweek.co.uk) has teamed up with children’s shoe brand, Buckle My Shoe. To celebrate they want YOU to design a pair of theatrical shoes that any West End performer would be proud to wear. The winning designers will then help create the official Kids Week 2007 poster for its 10th anniversary and its biggest year yet!
Perhaps you think theatrical shoes should be bright and colourful so they stand out on stage, or maybe they should twinkle under the spotlight. Perhaps your design will help a dancer perform their dance steps faster, or help an actor get into character. Whatever you decide, just write a sentence describing the idea(s) behind your design and send it along with your design to the postal address which can be found at www.kidsweek.co.uk.
Winners will be selected and invited to spend the afternoon with a designer at aka, one of London’s leading theatrical design agencies, for an exclusive workshop, where, as part of the ‘Kids Week Design Team’ they will help to create the official Kids Week poster which will be displayed across London. Plus, each winner will also take home an exclusive Kids Week goody bag.
Although you have to be 10 – 14 years old to be eligible for the main prize, little designers can get involved too. Send your own colourful shoe designs as you never know, you may even see your design up on the official Kids Week website in their shoe gallery! If you do, they’ll send you an extra special Kids Week goody bag.
To find out how to enter, log on to www.kidsweek.co.uk and to get you started, there are some fun shoe templates for you to use. Alternatively, if you’re feeling particularly inspired, why not use the blank template and create a totally original design. So what are you waiting for, choose a template, print it out and get creative!
