Real spur of the moment thing ... but we decided to rip up our front room carpet and lay laminate yesterday!! It had stains on is from spilled drinks etc so really needed doing anyway.
Dh just finishing it off now - we have a 1930's house with round bay windows, what a nightmare that was, but we persevered and found a method and it looks brilliant. Just have the beading to do then will take some 'after' piccies and post them.
We've used the same style/colour as we did the hallway in so it looks lovely and 'uniform'.... really pleased with ourselves :cheesy:

It is just so much more practical, especially with kids running around. We had beige/cream carpet in the hall/front room and even though we always take our shoes off as soon as we come in, it still gets dirty.
Hope you manage to persuade your dh! :happy72:

We have dark blue carpet at mo and that still shows the dirt, it also shows the blue tac stuck to it (before Ive gave it a haircut) and I dread to think how much juice has been spilt on it.

i laid laminate floor in my old house, it's quite easy really, and not too expensive, i did my front room (which was quite large) for less than £100 from b&q, and it was fab when something got spilt, it makes you realise how much must have been in your carpet!!! x x x
can't wait to see the pictures sluff!!! x x x x

If you've never done it before, it is a little tricky getting the hand of it. If you've got a friend who's done it before, then get them to help you for the first time. We did all our downstairs in our other house, then have done the hall, downstairs toilet and now the front room so had a bit of practice!
It's easier (but more expensive) to get the glueless click together stuff as it's a bit less tricky than using the glue, although you should still glue in 'high traffic' areas to make sure it's secure.
Hope that helps xx

Also for tricky bits like round doorways or fire places etc, I make cardboard templates for any funny angles then you can pencil that onto the laminate before you cut it to size.

I'd have the stuff in my living room/lounge but the giddy piggies would slide all over the place when I let them out to run

We had it in our old house then when we moved in here last July We bought a lovely beige carpet - Biggest mistake ever!! We pulled it up about a month ago now and bought flooring for in here, its fab and child proof! We have a huge rug in here though for Harry/Ethan to play on as that was my only concern really and was why we didnt get flooring in the first place, I think carpet is much cosier and didnt want them playing on the floor (not that its cold or anything just that Its not comfy! lol
Anyway Im sure it looks fab!

You can use click in high traffic areas as well. We have it in our dining room and hall and its great.

looks fab... best thing we ever did was laminate! we have it nearly everywhere now! not in the bathroom, or the hall and stairs, nor the kitchen or the utility room!!
but we have it in all the bedrooms, the toilet (so much mire hygienic than carpet!!) and the front room and hallway! I love it!!

we had a beige carpet too...but ds spilt cherryade on it then another limeade...so as ou gather we had lovely pink and green stains...we laminated our hall and living room for about £130...we still need to get the beading done...just havent had the spare cash! Our very handy neighbour did our flooring for us...its the best thing we did..easy to keep clean, great for ds's brio track :cheesy:
