I'd be selective about it...

I always thought that reciprocal links were great for helping you climb the search engines...and what better way to do that than support other WAHMS BUT I guess if there are any businesses that are in direct competition with eachother it may not be such a good idea.......

Shouldn't links only be relevant though? I thought that if you had too many it could be seen as a bad thing by the search engines.

I think maybe if it were pages of links there could be a problem but to be honest with the small amount of links most WAH businesses have on there I cant see it is.

I try and be a bit selective to aim for similar customer bases - seeing as I frequently check out links pages on sites to find other sites of interest...

For example a LOT of WAHM businesses are nappy / baby related whereas my site is more pre-school / primary aged so I generally avoid them now (unless it's a close friend) and try and stick to WAHMs that sell things that might be of interest to my customers.

I think it's important not to bore your customers too!

Chell is exactly right. Many, many wahms have lots of links on their link pages and it is very counter productive.

A good guide would be something along the lines of one childrens clothes shop (assuming you don't sell childrens clothes!), one toy shop, a couple of parenting forums (again not too many), one nappy shop etc etc There's not much point in linking to a pet or jewellery shop if you sell children's items.

Google wants to see that you have included other useful links to sites with good content that is relevant to your customers.
