Hi can I ask a few questions from those of u that do this. My daughter has been going on and on about making bathbombs and so have got her a wee kit from the wonderful christine. However after checking sites on how to do it and wots involved lol Im thinking this is something I may enjoy myself. So questions r does it take a lot of money to get started. Is it hard to build up stock. Was thinking of selling anything worth selling lol at boot sales etc would that be ok. Not wanting to do this as full time internet shop, more selling a few at boot sales. Any suggestions or tips?

All cosmetics (including bathbombs) must be certified by a qualified chemist before being sold - and there is also quite strict EU legislation out there which you must comply with in order to legally sell cosmetics (including soaps). There are also health and safetly issues too and trading standards (including using expensive trade stamped scales!).

The considerations for bathbomb making are similar to soapmaking - it's too detailed for me to list here but consider joining the yahoo group slipperyslope, where there are lots of other people talking about the business aspect - they will also be able to put you in touch with the chemists who can certifiy your products - as a ball park, you could expect to pay around £150 for a base recipe.

You should also join uksoaping (also a yahoo group) which will give you lots more information although soap based many make bathbombs and other similar stuff. There are also numerous US sites which can help too (although US sellers do not have to adhere to the same legal requirements).

Finally, there is an e-book on Ebay sold by soappirate http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-Real-Soapmakers-Ebook_W0QQitemZ220069152192QQihZ012QQcategoryZ3089 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item220 069152192

This was written collectively by soapmakers from UKsoaping and the proceeds go to cancer research - although focusing mainly on soap certification and the business side is covered in the e-book which may be helpful. :D

That's no problem - it is very strictly regulated which you wouldn't know about unless you looked into it. Some peeps don't and sell illegally!
