I need to change the way I do my accounts to something that will handle products too - I can see that the volume of invoices will be going up enormously with the book sales.
I'm thinking of getting quickbooks - does anyone else use/recommend this or have you got another programme you prefer?

I have heard really good things about an online package - Kashflow - you get a 60 day free trial to test it out -I think the url is www.kashflow.co.uk

Hi Antonia,
I know I replied to you on another forum, but as other's are wanting to know about Quickbooks here I thought I'd reply here as well.
I'm a fully certified bookkeeper and my software of choice is Quickbooks. Mainly because if my client wants to use the software as well, once it's set up, it's really easy to use.
I'd say that for 98% of my clients I use Quickbooks - simply because it's not a bulky package, it's extremely easy to use and it's easy to pull the information from them at the drop of a hat. If a client is not already using a specific software, this is what I use for them. For the remaining 2% I use Sage, spreadsheets or do the accounts manually. For the client's who I use Sage for, I only use Sage because that is the software they use - if they didn't use, I wouldn't personally have chosen that one.
I've been using Quickbooks since before I moved to the UK - it's easy to use, the updates are done automatically by the program and there's no fuss with it.
I hope this helps!

Tell me about it - I did a year of an accounting & finance degree at uni and sage was so needlessly complicated! Yes once you'd got to grips with it it wasnt that bad, but why on earth it had to be so damn confusing to start with when there are so many way more intuitive programmes around god only knows!

My experience isnt going to be of much help I'm afraid as I use a spreadsheet LOL!
However if you do opt for QB lmk as I was considering adding download to QB functionality to the cart (not totally sure if I will as I dont know how easy it'll be without a licence myself, but we shall see!).

I use a spreadsheet...but then I am a qualified accountant and can't stand these basic book-keeping applications. Mind you, it is years since I looked at any of them and I am sure that they have all moved on lots. We used an application that ran the whole company, from inventory management to manufacturing data, to accounts, to HR at my old company and clearly I'm not quite at the level of needing something like that yet!

I'm using it - it's fine at the mo and worth giving it a go for the trial period. Email Duane at Kashflow about the oscommerce issue - he's very friendly :)

I have spoken to Duane via a post on UKB. It was him who told me that it can't be linked up to Oscommerce yet.

Oh dear - he'll have to put that right as I should think a lot of people use oscommerce from what I see/hear...
